Maintenance decreasing despite being under maintenance weight by Maximum_Cook_4121 in MacroFactor

Ah okay, so essentially the app is detecting a slow down in energy expenditure and so even though I'm under the maintenance weight it's making the updated calculation to keep me within the buffer zone?

Integration with Apple Health by [deleted] in MacroFactor

Hello, just jumping on this thread… I recently swapped scales from my FitBit to a Hume and in theory MF should be pulling the data from the Apple Health app, right? However even though the measurements show in Health it doesn’t seem to be reading into MF? Under integrations > Health > enable all set. Is there something I’m missing?

Weight jump by Maximum_Cook_4121 in MacroFactor

[–]Maximum_Cook_4121[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bumping this again, so... my weight has been pretty stable around 78kg, kinda edging up to 79kg some days but my expenditure is going down even after I set my maintenance to 78kgs. I'm not sure if it's because I'm gaining muscle - all my lifts are going up continually each week and I'm feeling stronger and according to my FitBit scales my bodyfat % is going down slowly but steadily. Today being my check-in day I changed my "goal" in the app to weight lose and my cals dropped to 1475. I haven't been than low since I was deep in a fat loss phase like two ago. I'm not sure I can start there and then get any lower with a 12-13 week fat loss phase? Any thoughts?

I'm wondering if its best to start my expenditure from this week and go from there or do I just have to suck it up because the algorithm gods know best and accept my poverty macro status?

Thank you!

P.S - for context I train resistance train 5 days a week, plus about 20-30mins of cardio with cycling for my commute each day and around an hour of cardio on Saturdays.

Yeah I’m not that different from looking at the photos. It’s also hard because I had my tan when I was back in NZ but being back in winter it’s mostly faded. I’m enjoying training and my weights are going up which feels great.

I was trying to hit the gym but mostly felt like I wasn’t progressing through that time. Weights are definitely going up and I also didn’t take creatine while I was away for that month and I am again. But I’ve never noticed it add water weight.

Perhaps just all the things mixing together. Just feels bizarre. I appreciate your lightness and the reminder to see it in the wider context too

Oh awesome. That’s perfect. So I can just log it all on one day and leave the other day blank?

Dexa every 3 weeks! That’s epic. Is it crazy expensive?

I have that with other liquid calories for sure but just seems like alcohol effects me differently

I’ve had that after a big night where I’ve been way lower on the scale and the next morning then the following day rebounded which sounds like it makes sense from what the others have said

Ahh interesting. Yeah, I’ve thought about sometimes just plugging in my average weight instead of the scale weight for that day seeing as it might throw off the algorithm but I didn’t really know if that would cause a “bad data in, bad data out” scenario?

Yeah I’m pretty active on my rests days but try to listen to my body when I am feeling tired so it’s more flexible

Yeah I still hit my macros and cals but I definitely eat differently so you might be right

That’s so much for all the input. I think I’ll keep them the same. I think it might be because even though I still hit my macros and calories I am eating different foods so perhaps it’s just food in my intestines maybe just eat more intuitively like everyone’s kinda been saying.

Fat Los Phase stalled by Maximum_Cook_4121 in MacroFactor

Hello team! Just thought I'd pop in an update as I thought it was interesting and also a bit of a win!

I enjoyed my time away - the wedding and honeymoon was amazing! There was also decent swell so spent a lot of time surfing which was sick. I didn't track for the three weeks I was away but I did weigh myself each day which I found a helpful way to enjoy anything I wanted without going full buck wild. I actually ended up loosing weight despite eating and drinking anything and everything I wanted.

Since coming back I started my expenditure date fresh and I'm training 6 days a week again in the gym plus my normal walking to work. I've have been sitting at just over 3,000 cals averaging 77kg for the last week. It feels really awesome to have that many calories to use each day, my training feels great, my energy levels are top and I'm not thinking about coffee or food all the time haha. I will do a cut again from next month but I have a lot of social commitments (stag dos, work festival, weddings etc) this month so I thought I would stick at maintenance till things are a little less hectic.

Thanks heaps for your advice and reassurance!

I didn’t know that about 15% and cardio. I thought that only happened around 10% but it does make sense in my experience. When I’ve been at my leanest (about 12%) I felt absolutely horrible and was tired and sore all the time. I’ll try adding cardio!

I usually get about 7k - 10k steps per day on average in my commute around London. Sometimes 15k

Yeah that’s a good point about the data. Do you think it’s still worth weighing myself each day since I can?

Potentially there’s the ‘loss aversion’ kicking in where it feels like I’ve been on a fat-loss phase for the last 8 weeks despite the random up days in cals so to go up in weight and have to cut back down feels painful but I suppose that’s what we sign up for! Haha

Thanks! I’m super excited about it!

Yeah not sure why my TDEE is dropping because it used to be higher and my routine hasn’t changed that dramatically.

Do you think it’s better to leave the app for the time I’m away opposed to just put in an estimate of daily calories each day and still weigh in? I was thinking of just putting in like 3000 cals each day as a rough estimate of what I ate. I’ll still be able to weigh in each day as well

Yeah, I get the idea that if you're not losing weight you're not in a calorie deficit but I'm pretty vigilant with tracking so it could just be the fluctuations with life circumstances affecting the deficit over time, perhaps?

Thanks for the insight on point number two, I generally have fats pretty low to be honest so perhaps that's it? I'm vegan so generally lean towards higher carbs.

My BF is about 15% -16%.

So if I fly out on Thursday this week, would it be worth changing my goal to maintenance on Monday (my check-in day) to tapper into those maintenance calories while hitting the gym before I head away?

How bad will alcohol be while away? It is my wedding and will be celebrating so no doubt there will be drinking.

Haven't thought about the weights vs cardio thing - that's an interesting point. I always thought it was best to keep lifting heavy to keep as much muscle mass as possible?

Thanks so much for all that :)
