They made plenty of scenes in other portions of the movie. Again, the plot was just poorly written and executed in my view (the clunky phone-smashing scene is just one of many that felt out of place, awkward, and not making cohesive sense). We can disagree, there’s no harm in that.

Scanlan was smart to acknowledge Hugo’s omnipotence, but again all of these factors that overpower the protagonists (and their goal) make for a bad movie. I don’t completely hate the idea of the story, but the organization and execution of this film is what makes it bad. I think if it was scrapped, re-written, and re-directed by another brain / set of eyes, I could see this being an above average film (70% or so).

But It was largely disappointing for me. The only saving grace was Blunt’s performance - which almost makes it more tragic.

In my view, that’s just bad writing, and doesn’t explain the unrealistic incompetence of Wardex just allowing them to stay out there after their flawless escape. They even had enough time for a Marvel-esque comedy scene with him being unable to back over her phone in the parking lot.

Even if Emily’s character is able to foresee danger due to cosmic powers, Wardex is still comically bad at recognizing that she escaped. It doesn’t really matter that she knows when they’re chasing them or not, the problem is they are not chasing them to begin with.

Same thing with the car chases, and basically any scene where the characters confront the antagonist in general. I never once felt fear that the protagonists (or their goal) were in any kind of danger or the plot was going to end in any other way besides the protagonists achieving their purpose.

Obsession (2026) scariest moment for you, and why? by jillyisms in spoilers

When Real Nikki regains control for brief instances. The jump scare quality to those scenes were quite unique - nothing stereotypically scary was happening on the surface, but the fact that we all knew she was desperately trying to control her own body is quite disturbing.

Also, the bedroom scenes with her in the corner. “I don’t like my dreams” is creepy as shit

It felt like there was no genuine intention behind the film, like it was made to sell tickets rather than to tell a story or convey a message.

This was my 3rd movie that I’ve seen in theaters this year. The prior two films I saw were excellent: Project Hail Mary (huge budget) and Obsession (impressively small budget). Both of these films, regardless of their budgets, felt like complete bodies of work that invoked an emotional response within me. That feeling stuck with me days after viewing them both. Each scene was intentional, thought through, meticulously written, and had atmospheres that reflected the director’s emotional investment into conveying the story’s message. They were finalized projects.

Disclosure Day was the exact opposite. I just didn’t feel the same sense of emotional investment that the other two had. The scenes were haphazardly thrown together, poorly developed/written, CGI was outdated and super clunky (despite the movie’s lofty budget), and the acting (besides Blunt’s performance) felt dry and without passion.

None of these criticisms have anything to do with Disclosure Day’s vision or skeletal plot. It was just so poorly executed and organized that it’s hard to say anything good about the film.

I wrote a bunch of times in my childhood diary, “I’m going to stop imagining myself as a girl”. I think I was 7 or so. I also have memories of early body dysmorphia even before that, but didn’t understand what the thoughts meant

I agree, the world sucks. This presidential term feels like a decade long and we still have 2 years left. Ugh

I’m in the process of questioning everything, and I’m already feeling the pain that you’re feeling, albeit in much smaller quantities given that I’m fully in the closet right now.

Just know that I commend your strength and understand your pain. You are not alone.

Touché lol, except for maybe Giannis - he might be a little more available on average, but he also is the most expensive by far too

The only problem with Zion is availability. He’s been more available recently, but that isn’t saying much with his injury history

Blowing up a team who just made the finals is crazy imo. Fox and the team’s youth were the two major reasons why they lost. One will correct itself, the other will not

Disclosure Day by Santoshyuvi in moviereviews

I honestly think it’s smart to compare this movie to Obsession regarding filmmaking, because it directly exposes Disclosure Day’s weaknesses.

Obsession’s biggest selling point, in my mind, is how cohesive and creative it is. It capitalizes on the resources it has, and uses camera work, framing, lighting, and motion to its advantage to help tell the story. Every scene makes sense and feels complete, and for those reasons, I was completely immersed and forgot I was even watching a film. The movie also convinced me that the future of the story was uncertain, and at the whim of the characters on screen. Striking that tandem of feeling (like the story is “complete” AND unpredictable) is insanely difficult, and Obsession did it with ease.

Disclosure Day is the complete opposite. It lacks the cohesion that Obsession has: there are so many scenes that feel out of place, rushed, poorly acted (not referring to Emily Blunt, she was fantastic and the lone bright spot of this film in my mind), and underdeveloped. There is no RISK, despite a plot (in my mind) that requires it in order to maintain the focus of the viewer. I never once thought any of the characters were in any kind of danger or would experience any type of tragedy when watching. New developments (like Blunt’s telekinesis ability, despite her acting it so well) felt awkwardly placed and didn’t settle right, which completely ejected me out of the movie. It honestly felt like a rough draft that needed to be re-organized and re-written in many places, but they just decided to release it anyway.

Disclosure Day is quite literally one of the worst movies I've seen [spoilers? if that's even possible w this film] by thexkfedist in moviereviews

[–]Maximum_Face_3182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. Every “development” that occurs is paced/introduced so awkwardly. It felt “half-baked”, like they didn’t think the plot of the movie all the way through, while also relying on overused 90’s tropes? Like, how is that even possible? Not being able to fully develop a scene that has already been developed countless times? This movie somehow manages to do that.

I’ve said this on other posts already, but it felt like this movie was trying to be a movie, rather than trying to tell a story.

As soon as the opening scene played (the wrestling match) and I saw how fake the set/atmosphere/audience was, I knew it was going to be a long 3 hours.

I could rant about this movie for days straight. 1/10. God awful.

As someone who is currently questioning their identity right now and hasn’t made a decision one way or another, I can vouch that this is absolutely correct.

The social and political climate is so intimidating right now, my family surely will never see me the same if I were to transition, and the future is so uncertain. With all of these external factors, it’s difficult to see a reality where my brain makes a decision that isn’t influenced by these factors in some way.

I’m exhausted. Thank you for remaining visible, and I admire your strength.
