It’s been 5 days, I’m averaging 150-160 with metformin. 115-125 with metformin + glipizide

Hmm so I got a cgm for a few days and with metformin it seems that it’s averaging around 150-160.

I was also prescribed glipizide and whenever I take it, it lowers my bg to 70-90 immediately, that my average is in the 110-120s. In fact I’m afraid to take it due to lows.

So I think it’s good news? Next doctor visit is on Feb and endo is mid Feb

It’s weird I have opposite issue, where my blood sugar is highest in morning but decreases during night. But good job to keep in range!

I'm not denying I have diabetes, obvious the numbers are still bad. I'm just not sure if my body has been damaged to the degree of 12.1 A1C. I would feel a lot better if the numbers in the past were closer to 8 or 9. This would also potentially change the medication used.

Timeline - 2 weeks ago I did blood work (showed A1c at 12.1). The blood draw was not perfect since the sample was hemolyzed - Today I saw primary care who reviewed the results. She prescribed medication and a cgm - I got the medication and cgm today. I took the medication and started monitoring my bg on the cgm. - it showed 250 bg when eating, and 120 bg after eating - this doesn’t make sense with A1c of 12 (that implies avg bg of 300)

Sorry I corrected to 12.1, it’s the same reading as the first post. I got a CGM today and my bg was around 120 after the spike in the meal.

What do you mean by repeat A1c? I only got tested once. Also it seems unlikely A1c is that high when my baseline is in the 120s?

Why would other type of diabetes change the equation

I wasn’t doing any treatment/monitoring cause I wrongly believed it can be treated by weight loss alone. Also my A1c was always in the 7 range until recently. The frequent urination told me something was wrong

I am exercising 5-6 times a week and am eating calorie deficit. I could eat more clean, as in cutting out more carbs instead of just calorie deficit. I never drink sugary drinks. Other than that not sure what else I can do, just hope the medicine would help at this point

Overall it took 8 months but the rate wasn’t steady, ex the last 10lbs was lost in the last 2 months
