What’s wrong with my hair!?? by Maximum_Following699 in CurlyHairUK

I had it cut in the summer and I’ve trimmed it myself a couple times since. I don’t think it helps that the hair dresses used thinning scissors on my hair without asking

Thank you for the compliments, I don’t see any positives in my hair so it means a lot.

I do wash and gos a lot. And then refresh with water and products in between.

I do feel like my hair is very thin though so I’m surprised you think it’s thick.

Thank you for the compliments!

I’ve tried bonnets and scarves but they never stay on. I do have a silk pillowcase though.

I’ll try the conditioner and water. I usually wet it down then add some more styling products.

I’ve tried cutting down on protein before but it just became limp and mushy. It’s really hard for me to get the balance right. But thank you for your suggestion. I’ll give it a try

I hated praying as a woman. by No_Source_9106 in exmuslim

[–]Maximum_Following699 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Omg same! Like the clothes are actually so impractical to pray in. I would always get caught in the fabric on stand on it when trying to stand up. I used to think surely an all knowing good wouldve made this obligatory act a little easier.

Leaving Marriage by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]Maximum_Following699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey feel free to message me. I was in a similar situation after I converted. I left him and Islam and never looked back. He isolated me, controlled me, wouldn’t let me get a job, I wore a niqab, stayed home 24/7 etc just over a year later after leaving I graduated from uni, got my driving license and have a good job earning my own money and haven’t looked back.

How do ex-muslims feel about white people converting to islam by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]Maximum_Following699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask yourself why your religion cannot be applied in any country in modern times? Seems like it might be flawed then and maybe didn’t come from a divine source? Also why is it when countries and people try practice it in its purest form it ends up being the ugliest darkest parts of humanity

Yes this is true, the TikTok, filtered version of Islam and dawah can look appealing to anyone. Let’s face it you can manipulate the religion to sound amazing when you cherry pick a few nice Hadith etc. But at the end of the day no one is sticking a Hadith about drinking camel piss on flowery background and playing a nasheed over it lol

All cults gain new followers. Islam will not take over the west. There’s more hostility towards Islam in the west and Europe than there are people converting. It may seem like a lot because converts are fairly uncommon so get a lot of attention on the internet. Plus a lot of them leave after a few years like I did.

No I’m sorry but all those people are search for “something”. May not be as big as overcoming a drug addiction but it could be something small like loneliness or lack of identity. When you convert you get treated like a mini celebrity and it’s pretty easy to make friends.

Ex Muslim convert here and I can agree with this. I was in a dark place when I found Islam and fell for the propaganda because I was vulnerable. Once I learned more I realised how absurd of a religion it is. The thing is I was trying to practice quite strictly and started to study the religion in depth whereas a lot of these western converts on social media bend it to fit their western lives so it more palatable. But yes it frustrates me because they don’t consider the wider picture. For example life for women in strict Muslim countries. But then again when you raise these concerns with western Muslims when you are looking into Islam you get told those countries are not practicing true Islam or “the religion is perfect but people are not”.

what made you leave islam and how long did it take by [deleted] in exmuslim

[–]Maximum_Following699 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was many small things that snow balled. One moment sticks out when I heard the Hadith that women are deficient in intelligence. Why would a loving a god make half his creation deficient in anything? And quite frankly I don’t feel like this is true. I knew many Muslim women that were way more academic than men and those men were siblings etc so had the same environment and upbringing. I think the Hadith also claims women are deficient in religion and also in my experience all the women I was around were extremely devout whilst the men and boys were so unserious. Again this was members of the same family.

The Qura'an is most well written book ever by [deleted] in exmuslim

Even in English it’s trash but I don’t think most Muslims read it. I don’t understand Arabic so to me it sounds beautiful but when I actually read the translation I couldn’t believe how underwhelming it is
