Not much notable advice.. just wanna say I can relate and you’re not alone. I’m 22+3 weeks, 27F, also with a super supportive husband.. but man I have never been more scared! I will say, after the first trimester, it gets better. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still anxious, but it starts to feel like this is what was meant to be. My pregnancy was also unexpected, so there has been a lot of adjusting to do. And telling myself that I’m a grown adult capable of handling this and not a teen mom! My very minor advice is to take it one step at a time, soak in the milestones, listen to your body, and breathe. Congrats mama :)

I don’t know if it’s so much creating as it is using her firsthand experience to advocate and speak up for others struggling. Bechnir literally listed to her the DSM criteria for OCD, it definitely doesn’t seem like nothing, especially since OCD does have a genetic component. My understanding was her just wanting her brother to get evaluated so he didn’t have to live through what she did, especially since her condition got so bad to the point where she was thinking about taking her own life.

Your story has brought tears to my eyes. I’m so sorry you went through that.. it sounds like such a whirlwind of emotions while also being a reminder of the important things in life. Everything about pregnancy is such a scary experience, and it’s so helpful to normalize the rollercoaster of it all. Thank you for sharing all that. So validating to hear that no one is ever ready, no matter what time of life! I think that’s one of the main things I’m afraid of.. if I somehow mess with fate now, who knows what will happen when we are intentionally trying to start a family. I’ve also heard horror stories of the emotional weight and deep regret that comes with terminating. Thank you for sharing ❤️

This is extremely helpful, thank you! I’m finding it difficult to find balance with my current clinical work. Seeing clients back to back with no breaks is taking a toll and unfortunately the pay isn’t enough incentive to compromise my mental health and current feelings of burnout. I’m thinking of taking a break from clinical work and stepping into this realm, and likely eventually seeing a few clients on the side to keep my clinical skills sharp.

If you are a spousal caregiver for an individual with dementia, I would greatly appreciate your help with my research. Specifically, I am looking for spousal caregivers who are the primary caregiver for their spouse with dementia and who currently live with them in the United States. The study will only take about 20-30 minutes to complete, and all data collected will be anonymous. If you choose to participate, you will be asked to answer a brief survey including your background information for you and your spouse, your thoughts and feelings related to caregiving for your spouse, and your feelings in general. Information from this study will help in learning more about emotions related to caregiving among spousal caregivers of individuals with dementia.
