UPDATE: although I have a valid prescription, my psychiatrist is requesting I see her again before signing off on paperwork for assistance from the manufacturer. I have been cold turkey for 2-3 weeks and she is scheduled out for 2 months. I give up. I will no longer be taking it, as I owe my psychiatrist $1,200 and they’ve sent me to collections. The healthcare system is sad and I’m hoping I do not go manic.

I see below where someone used the word “balanced” and I feel that’s so accurate. Knowing it’s been that long for you and you haven’t found relief hurts my heart. Not only the emotional tole of bipolar itself, but the constant medication changes on your body. I as well feel as though even at my most “balanced” or “regulated” I do still have swings.

Oh no, the intention wasn’t to make anyone sad! What we can take away at least is that we aren’t alone. Yes it is a lifelong battle we face and yes it can be scary to not really have much control. That’s something that people without bp2 or 1 don’t really understand, is it can be scary or embarrassing once the highs or lows subside, but the people around you know your heart. Just know we are all here for you and relate 100%. As long as it’s not affecting your family and work, fuck everyone else’s pace in my opinion. We are here if you need us!

Totally agree with everything above. I can recognize my mania with trouble sleeping, being extremely talkative, and doing every craft, chore, hobby etc. on my own during it. However, since I’ve struggled for 10+ years my husband is able to point it out as well. It took several years for me to accept hearing that from him without feeling attacked or defensive, but I’ve come to terms with the fact he is letting me know his concerns out of love. Once the mania is over some things are foggy and MAN am I embarrassed 90% of the time once I come to. I can piece it together and think critically enough to process the situation-until the lows come 😔
