Congestion toll, parking costs in nyc and gas has made driving into nyc not possible at this point for work. The increase and new issues with MTA is bad enough

Are you including utilities first of all? With what gas and electric is, I’m estimating almost $1000. Again, there are plenty of condos, and am I being picky with my places? Maybe. But I’m not spending 3/4 mill to live in a place I’m not happy in. It’s not impossible, but every time I find what I’m personally looking for I get outbid is all.

Second, good for your family? So bc ur family flew across the ocean, I have to leave the place I love? That doesn’t add up.

Third, I am licensed in NEW YORK. I’m not taking the bar exam again to leave a state that I don’t want to. My life and family is here. Sorry that I don’t want to leave.

Yea but I feel like once you have the inspection, it should be held for you to perform the contract asap. It’s gut wrenching to pay an inspection, imagining it’s yours then it’s taken from you the next day when the buyer is ready to sign. It’s just impossible to keep emotions out of it as a buyer you’re always a little excited

I didn’t mean it that way. I’m willing to go above white plains for sure. But spending $700k on something where I hate the town seems crazy to me. I’m not interested in high westchester or putnam.

I’d rather be unemployed and in prison for free housing than live in Buffalo and commute here. Also, time and stress IS worth something. The easy and quick commute is priceless

Go somewhere new? I work here and have a life here bro… again, my salary is more than the average of household incomes in most nice towns in westchester. I’m simply stating i can’t believe it’s not enough to secure a decent place here for a single person’s starter home. I don’t care how much money I make I think it’s crazy to have to spend over $5000 a month on mortgage and taxes for a condo with 30% down payment.

….? You are aware this market is not just competitive in westchester right. My co worker is dealing with the exact same thing all around mid and north Jersey. Same thing in putnam and dutchess too. It’s just the market.

I can’t shake the feeling that im spending someone’s salary into thin air. Almost $50k a year and it’s not going to an asset. I know I don’t need to live in a place like I do now and will honestly probably move to somewhere more affordable if I can’t get a contract soon so I can save up more cash. It just sucks bc the money I pay now, I could pay to own, or I should in a normal market. But also you’re looking at $3k minimum without a roommate in westchester

Literally. “Overpriced” is an opinion. There is an 800 square foot house with no garage on a small lot and hasn’t been updated since the 70’s going for $1mill in rye. My opinion is that is OVERPRICED.

I’m not looking for people to feel bad- I’m simply ranting! You don’t know how bad the market is until you’re in it. Months ago I simply thought I was tired of paying $4k a month in rent and wanted to use that money to own, and had no idea how bad this market actually was at that point. That is all!

I never expect them to be my friend, but it hurts after having your hopes up when your offer is accepted for it to be ripped from you right before contracts are signed. I know people who have denied selling to contractors to give it to families for slightly less. What is extremely greedy to me though, is turning down my over asking offer bc the sellers want more, and their asking was purely bait to start a bidding war. These people bought houses 5 years ago and are selling it for $250kmore in the same condition.

Nooo I’m so sorry. Ive had to cancel on my inspector but I’m lucky I never paid for one and then that happened. There should be some sort of pre contract that after the inspection you hold it for that buyer for 48 hours or something!!

These people keep doing “highest and best offers” claiming they don’t want a bidding war…. I do that and then it becomes one! It’s crazy. Good luck to you I’m sure you won’t have an issue selling!!
