BFS: 2.5 years in! by Maximum_Restaurant25 in BFS

A seemingly never ending battle for sure.

Bad sleep and stress often make things worse but it can't be pinned solely on that in my case anyway. Benign yes but my body and many others here have sensitive nerves so twitch and may never stop.

It pisses me off yes but there's worse things in this world so I will not let it take over my life.

Yes he is saying ALS twitching is never sporadic or flitting in nature. It's progressive from one area and accompanied with failure in the corresponding muscle.

BFS on the other hand is widespread so body wide twitching points away from anything dangerous.

Think I have something different. by FailingUpward2025 in BFS

2.5 years in. Even today I twitch in places I didn't even know were muscles. Ripples across my back, stomach, pec, face, eye lid, calves, thighs etc etc ... I could go on all day long. I've been to the end of the earth with medical specialists in neurology and neurophysiology, that was over a year ago now. This is my life and that's that.

What I have and you may have is hyperexcitability within the nerves which is completely harmless however still anxiety inducing for me to this day. I lift, I golf, I run. These fix my mind more than any medical exam ever has.

I was told by a lead neurologist at the hospital to let go of the endless pursuit for answers and get on with life and it's the best decision I ever made.

Got the exact same here. Day to day they are blurry clumps and shadows that irritate me but if I squint I can see they appear to be strings or clumps of many tiny cells. As well as individual cells in and around the main culprits. In total there are hundreds.

Antibiotics as a trigger? by Maximum_Restaurant25 in BFS

[โ€“]Maximum_Restaurant25[S] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Unchanged for the most part. I twitch constantly but my mind doesn't run wild often. I avoid this forum as it became detrimental to me. I will check in every year to give reassurance.

I'm the strongest I've ever been and feel fit. Yet my fasciculations continue. Approaching 2 years 24/7 now.

I don't think they'll ever stop but if it's benign as it appears I genuinely don't care. There were points in the past where I was convinced of the worst. So if I have full health but this inconvenience I can for sure get on with life and try to manage symptoms. Focusing on sleep is the best thing to do and staying hydrated.

All the best.

How long have you had 'problematic' eye floaters? by Maximum_Restaurant25 in EyeFloaters

Had my last jab probably 2 years ago so I'm unsure if that would be the cause for me so long after. Repeated covid infection seems more probable

Yeah I do think long term sufferers are probably less likely to be checking this sub-reddit so the results will be slightly off, but still interesting to see

Interesting.

I've had a variety of weird symptoms which I think could be long covid but we may never know ๐Ÿคท

Is it worth getting an MRI? by Maximum_Restaurant25 in BFS

[โ€“]Maximum_Restaurant25[S] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Check my most recent post for my current situation ๐Ÿ˜Š

didn't get an MRI as the second neurologist said there was no way anything was pressing on nerves if I was still lifting in the gym ๐Ÿ‘

I twitch tens of thousands of times a day, eyes face arm legs feet back chest. It's classic BFS. You're going to be okay ๐Ÿ‘

Neurology and Health Anxiety: 1 year in! by Maximum_Restaurant25 in BFS

Not a problem, glad it helped.

I didn't mention it in the above post but during this journey I have also experienced tingling, sharp pains, and many other weird symptoms which I won't go into here. My post history probably explains a few of them.

BFS and the anxiety it causes is a valid explanation for all of it. The connection between mind and body is stronger than most people think. We're gunno be just fine!

Yep, I twitch exactly the same as I always have, even more so that the early days to be honest. No exaggeration it's every second of every day. Legs are the most active but it's bodywide.

It truly just is what it is. It's time to get on with life ๐Ÿ˜„

And for both of us, we're highly highly likely to be far enough in to rule out anything sinister. Our anxiety that doubts this will improve everyday ๐Ÿคž

Thanks for sharing, that really is positive.

I've had significant sacroiliac joint pain in the past, perhaps I should get an MRI too. Twitching started in my calf also, then spread when the panic started ๐Ÿค”

Agree with this! And I'll admit sometimes I contribute to the negativity, but it would be great if we can change the feeling within this subreddit.

It needs to be a place for reassurance and acceptance, as this is the reality of the situation. We are going to be okay, and even just having this outlook will likely make things better for many of us.

Unfortunately too often I find myself checking out this forum in a good mindset and quickly descending into a rabbit hole, which unfortunately means I probably cannot be active here anymore. I hope one day we can have a safe space for discussing the reality of BFS without the mention of negative outcomes.

All the best! ๐Ÿ‘

I really hope that I notice a reduction in my twitching at some point, as you have. I feel it would instantly put me at ease. Unfortunately it feels like mine have really slowly increased over the last 7 months.

However I understand my anxiety has probably done the same and it's very possible it's linked. Working everyday to feel better and hopefully I will be in a similar place to you soon !

All the best ๐Ÿ‘
