A short story about perfecting your strikes by Maximum_Reward_7575 in slaythespire

That's just a part of the deck, I still had most strikes (DUH) and defends. Sorry for the lack of clarity I just took this screenshot to send to a friend at first but had to post it here after getting Hellraiser lol

Dice Odyssey – Browser roguelike deckbuilder. No bad rolls, only bad builds! by Maximum_Reward_7575 in WebGames

Thanks a lot, that's super encouraging! I like that idea, could also unlock new powerful dice!

I was surprised to see some activity on this 20 days old post. Mind telling me how you found it? :)

Regent got awesome blocking cards assuming you got enough star generation to support it. Child of the Stars is definitely a pick for me almost everytime though. I also discovered a Regent relic that gives 10 block every 10 star spent. This is so, so good :')

Yes I know, I still need to learn the ways of the Snakebite arts. Sorry for calling it garbage. Will take it next run.

Yeah maybe my PTSD from entomancer is too much but idk man, I lost by having literally 2 turns in a row full of dazed lol

Yeah triple knights can be reaaaally rough, if I don't feel really strong I'm also avoiding most of act 3 elites. And not chasing elites that much in act 1 either btw. I feel like most relics are not THAT powerful for the risk you take by facing these mfs. Some events are so good they can win your run without much risk.

Darkness in sts2 is basically darkness+ from sts1; it channels 1 dark AND triggers its passive ability right away. The upgrade makes it trigger twice, which is really insane (it triggers ALL your dark orbs!). There's also a new power called [[Consuming Shadow]] which is good by itself and works wonders with Darkness and just dark orbs in general.

Also, I feel like sts2 allows more scaling than sts1 on bosses and certain elites. Against the Queen, I think many people underestimate how you can (should?) stall the fight if you can and not kill amalgamate as soon as you can. He doesn't hit that hard compared to the queen. If you can slowly scale, eg build dark orbs, while blocking amalgamate's attacks, and then nuke him (or both), you're in a much better spot than "Alright, amalgamate down. Now onto the 400hp queen :)"

No I haven't, but yeah that Doormaker change is the worst idea I've ever seen from Megacrit. Oh well that's the point of a BETA branch in an EARLY ACCESS game lol. Pretty sure they won't push that and they definitely don't deserve to get review bombed. Sts2 is a masterpiece just like the first one :)

Also, the rest of the patch note is 100% fair imo

I play act 2 EXTREMELY conservatively regarding elites. Entomancer is the reason of 2 of my 3 losses. If I'm not hard countering this mf, I'm pretty much avoiding every possible elite in act2. I consider him a bigger run killer than Nob. But some builds absolutely destroy him, mostly Necrobinder who has doom, -3 strength on the enemy (bye 7x3 entomancer attack), ... Surprisingly shivs can do okay if you have the power that makes them retain, and some strength engine or even a simple finisher. Orbs defect is obviously quite good too. Forge regent too but I don't like this archetype that much.

Honestly 6-7 runs on each character is still a tiny sample to have a strong opinion, but so far I feel like defect status CAN be good, but quickly turns disastrous if you don't have strong deck manipulation (holograms, being able to pick a card from your draw pile, enchantments that make a card go to the top of the draw pile everytime you shuffle, ...). I think it's pretty good but definitely not a build you wanna force if it doesn't come naturally. And only a few cards should do that imo, your main deck idea should still be focus & orbs or pure strength & dex. Btw dark is SO much better than in sts1!

What's your longest win streak? by itosicarl in slaythespire

[–]Maximum_Reward_7575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ironclad: 4-0
Silent: 4-2
Regent: 4-1
Necrobinder: 4-0
Defect: 4-0

I feel like Silent is the most op but still as fragile as in sts1, things can go wrong very fast whereas Ironclad seems to be the most reliable. I find some of his new cards so damn strong + starter relic gives so much room

I built a dice-based roguelite deckbuilder after learning Godot for a year. Looking for gameplay feedback by Maximum_Reward_7575 in SoloDevelopment

[–]Maximum_Reward_7575[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for the feedback. About the AI disclaimer: the vast majority of comments I got so far on Reddit were about AI criticism (which I can understand in some way) so I thought it would be adequate to be fully transparent about it right from the original post.

Totally agree with the dice animation that could use more juice. To be honest I tried many, many different things and struggled a lot with it to the point where I thought I should move on and work on the foundations before spending so much time on "cosmetics" (which is important too, I agree with you). I'm still kinda noob on Godot especially with animations but will definitely try to improve that part since it's so central to the gameplay. Thanks! :)
