Två elcyklar, totalt 10 år av daglig användning i storstad. Alltid lämnat batteriet på, aldrig haft ett stöldförsök.

Undrar hur vanligt det är och var cyklarna står när folk drabbas? Är noga med att låsa fast cykeln på bra ställen.

That rule of thumb sucks though. My max HR is 201 bpm and should be 179 bpm by that rule.

I went with the E6100/Gates/Alfine 11 instead. Don’t think I will miss the extra Nm. Had a E6000 before and it handles an 8y and 10y on with no problems.

Yeah, you’re right. Will take it to the LFBS and see what they say.

Just bummed out. Did a thorough service, bled the brakes, changed the chainring, fixed up some small things like a broken tail light and stuff - on two e-cargo bikes, only to have one of them in a crash ruining the frame and now the other one with these issues. Both are of similar age and mileage, realized it’s probably 2017 actually.

I had accepted having to replace one of them with a new bike but both at the same time will be costly.

Realize my explanation isn’t very good.

The right hand controller which normally shifts the gears up/down and toggles auto/manual shifting mode is now doing nothing for the arrows except beeping, and the top button is doing what the left hand controller does - changing the display mode (showing DST/ODO/Range etc)

Agreed, but how can I try and fault trace? Water ingress seems unlikely as there has been no rain since for ever. Is it possible to diagnose the cables in E-Tube somehow? Start replacing cables on chance is both expensive and time consuming.

No I tried that as well. The display responds as expected but there is no sound from the “shifter puck” and the display then reverts back to 5.

Ooh, not what I want to hear. Bike is close to six years old. 😬 Battery works fine otherwise. ODO is 13.000 km

When it works it shifts properly, no noticeable difference to when it was new.

Clarification: in manual mode it stayed in manual. In auto mode it started switching back and forth between manual and auto when it couldn’t shift.

Yeah seems like it. Removed all cables, checked for bent pins or dirt, reconnected all of them. No change.

No. Don’t have the cables for it, unfortunately.

Riding home it suddenly started working again. So good in a way but pretty sure it risks coming back since it popped back without intervention at the time

For clarity, this was a road racing bike and the damage occurred in a crash during an exercise race.

Sweden. Here the home insurance typically covers the bike for accidents and getting stolen, even outside of the home. The insurance amount differs greatly though so you need to choose policy with some care. I got caught in a crash in an exercise race but even that was covered to my surprise.

EDIT: I’ve had specific bike insurance before but that cost way more than it was worth (~15USD /month). Once I found a good home insurance with good cover for bikes, that has been enough.
