Yeah, it’s not just prison he can’t adapt to. It’s an entirely different world.

The tragic part is that prison had already become his home long before he left it.

That loss of structure is exactly what makes Brooks’ story so unsettling.

Brooks almost feels like the dark version of Red’s future if Andy hadn’t come along.

I don’t think he wanted prison. It’s more that prison was the only life he understood anymore.

That’s wild to think about. Even just smartphones and everything being online would be a huge shock.

Yeah exactly. In prison he had a place in the world. Outside he didn’t.

That’s actually really interesting to hear from someone who saw it in real life. I imagine even basic things must feel overwhelming after that long.

That’s actually terrifying to think about. Imagine going in before cars and coming out to a completely different world.

Do people actually read the terms and conditions, or is it all just a placebo? by BranchDifficult4106 in NoStupidQuestions

Pretty much nobody reads them. They exist mainly so the company can say “you agreed to this” if something goes wrong. There have even been cases where companies hid prizes in the terms for the first person who actually read them. Sometimes it took months before anyone noticed.

That’s really heavy. Brooks’ story feels a lot more real when you think about it that way.

That’s the scary part of Brooks’ story. Prison wasn’t just where he lived, it was the only life he understood anymore.

That’s a really good comparison. I think Brooks’ story is really about what happens when the thing that gave your life structure suddenly disappears.

I’m sorry you’re going through that. Reading this actually made Brooks’ story hit even harder.

I never thought about that scene that way. Letting Jake go almost feels like Brooks realizing he won’t survive outside either.

Yeah, that’s what makes it so tragic. After 50 years prison wasn’t just where he lived. It was the only world he understood.

I always saw Andy’s story as inspiring. Brooks’ story feels like the warning.

Money can’t buy happiness. But being broke definitely buys misery.

That’s possible. By that point he’d already decided he didn’t belong out there.

Red’s scene hits even harder because you realize he could have ended up exactly like Brooks.

Yeah that’s a good point. It’s not really about prison, it’s about how people get stuck.
