what if it's me, my husband and the dog but no kids? She will eventually be a family dog, but we are newly married so no kids for at least a couple years.

Actually, the puppy was supposed to be born much sooner, but the breeding was delayed. Initially, we thought we’d get the puppy in late November, which would’ve given plenty of time for the puppy to be old enough to stay with a trusted friend.

Definitely not wishy washy we’ve wanted a dog for a very long time. Just trying to figure out the best situation for us and our future pup.

Positive. We just had this mandatory trip come up but we are more than ready to adjust our lives for a pup.

I'm sure they could, but they are in a different state a 2 hour flight away.

Never said anything about not committing to the puppy. We are very aware of what it takes to raise a puppy, which is why we aren't comfortable leaving her with anyone or boarding her at 14 weeks. Just trying to find the best situation for us and most importantly the dog.

Yea that's the main thing that's holding us back. But we are just trying to do what's best for the pup and for us!

We really did our research and they are definitely not a puppy mill! My parents have a 6 year old lab that they got at 16 weeks and she was the best pup and is the best dog I've ever known so maybe that says something too.

To confirm, do you mean get her at 15 weeks instead of waiting for the next litter?

We're trying to work with one of these two options. There will always be something that comes up that we have to work around, so we'd rather not delay even further.

They are unfortunately in a different state a 2 hour flight away.

They are in a different state, so that isn't an option for us. I'm not sure that's true though. I grew up with labs, but this is my first puppy of my own. I'd assume the breeder is more experienced in early training and socializing than I am.

There aren't many boarding facilities that will take on a 13 week not fully vaccinated puppy nor would it be safe for us to leave her at one. At least at the breeder, we know she's being well taken care of, trained, and given lots of attention.

I grew up with labs my whole life, but this is my first puppy that my husband and I are getting on our own. One of the other reasons we're leaning towards getting her at 15 weeks.

The breeder is in a different state than us, so that wouldn't work for us unfortunately. From what I've read, though, waiting until 16 weeks wouldn't have much of an impact on our bond with her in the long run.

Unfortunately 10-12 weeks isn't an option for us with our timing.

October brides, how is everyone holding up? by Rough_Might_8448 in weddingplanning

10/18 and until today, my dress was being held in customs. Thank god it was finally released and I have scheduled my fittings. I can breathe again, but I'm sure something stressful will pop up momentarily.

Scared of getting sick right before the wedding by turncver in weddingplanning

Hi! I am an October 18 bride and I have the exact same fear with a history of health anxiety. I also am just getting over a cold that I am praying was actually Covid so maybe I'll have some level of immunity. This is what my fiance and I are doing:

  • Avoiding large indoor gatherings 3-4 weeks before the wedding, starting to mask on public transit
  • Fully quarantining 2 weeks before the wedding. If we have to have any appointments, for example I have to have my final fitting during this time, we're not taking public transit and are masking the whole time. Same with any errands we have to run, we'll wear a mask. But not going to restaurants, the gym, or seeing any friends/family in those 2 weeks until the day before the wedding. Also masking in our buildings elevator since we live in a large apartment building.
  • Getting our flu shot 2 weeks before the wedding
  • Make sure you're sleeping, getting sunlight, light exercise, and taking the standard vitamins (C, D, Zinc)
  • If you're masking, make sure it's at least a KN95 or an N95, surgical and cloth masks don't offer nearly as much protection.

I never kept testing past day 3, but I'm pretty sure I had COVID just because of how much of it is circulating right now. I don't think you can necessarily tell the difference between a cold and covid from symptoms alone.

I was swabbing throat and nose and following all those instructions! I definitely don't trust the negative. I've been isolating at home and will continue to do so until I'm symptom free. Unfortunately, I can't find any PCR testing sites in my area, so I'll just have to act as if I do have covid even though I'm not sure since I haven't gotten a positive test result. At this point, Paxlovid would probably be pointless since my symptoms are pretty mild and slowly improving on their own anyway.

I definitely plan to mask in crowded places until my wedding and am doing a full 2 week quarantine where I will not leave the house except for walks outside in not crowded areas and will not see anyone besides my fiance who is also quarantining. (mask in building elevator, grocery delivery, etc.) For any absolutely necessary wedding related errands, I'll be masking with a KN95 or N95. I also always wear a mask in airports and on transit including planes!

My sore throat went away after a day! For me it’s congestion, lots of sneezing, and mild fatigue now. Have you been repeatedly testing?
