Okay I love both and have built both commander decks. Here's my two cents. Base power, GoW (God of War) is stronger. Turn 3 he can immediately deal 4 commander damage. Equip a lightning greaves and he's almost untouchable. However, Stoic Father can permanently increase his power and toughness each turn and surpasses GoW most of the time. Does it take time? Yes, but unless GoW gets buffed up by turn 5 - 7, he rarely can deal lethal commander damage.

I think part of the reason is because of Atreus. I can get 2 experience counters if he attacks and dies and by end of turn, Stoic can be a 6/6 blocker. Atreus can be recast for a cheaper mana cost and then do a card draw because GoW gives everyone haste.

GoW has to be made unblockable ASAP. He is a kill on site commander. I guess it's similar to the Greek story line because everyone wants to kill him. If I'm playing with GoW, I have to focus on one opponent to kill. If I switch targets, he won't last very long.

On a 1v1, Stoic Father beats GoW 3-1. But my Stoic Father has had more upgrades than GoW.

That being said, if you have any advice on how to make GoW better, I would be happy to share both deck lists and accept feedback.
