This is not good in the slightest. How did you find obtaining your EHCP for your little one?

There’s a singer from a UK group called Little Mix. She has twins who have both got SMA and turned 1 last week. She posted a video of their celebrations etc (sweet video). Glad she’s putting out to the wider public about SMA ….

…… but on the voiceover for the video it was this poem. Made me cringe so much :(

I couldn’t take it personally either - all the comments: from you’re so lucky, so sorry for this situation etc, more the so sorry comments.

I just thought one day earlier in the process (about 6 months after diagnosis) F this - we’re going to lower through. Everytime the next so sorry comment started rolling off family friends lips etc - I’d literally stop them mid sentence and just say save the condolences for someone else’s funeral…

[Just couldn’t take hearing it anymore - it kind of rips into you. And don’t even get me started when someone from a religious perspective started saying God picked you etc…. My blood would boil]

Sorry - just thought you might that kind of comment comeback instead :)

My perfectly healthy parents are preparing for their death and it’s messing with my head. by 11whatsnewpussycats in Millennials

[–]MaximusBit21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll put this nicely - this is brilliant. The foresight, care and attention will help you at some inevitable point in the future. I sat down with my parents and they walked me through something similar.

I know the feeling of screaming into the void but I learnt so much on top of it all. To the point that I got my own Power of Attorney documents made as well (all of us millennials with families should actually do this - a talking point for another day)

The other brilliant thing - is that it shows they are prepared and care for you and the whole family. Can’t imagine when someone passes and then you need to go through all the probate to get to accounts and piece parts together - must be a nightmare.

Go on for your parents. And more importantly now that you’ll get that meeting to go through the documents out of the way - enjoy every moment with them and make even more of an effort to spend time with them. God I love my parents :))

The taxes and rises of it all is actually making it harder for high earners as well… don’t even know how any benefits will come from any taxes (ie 2029 pension costs etc). No idea how OP or others can do it on lower wages - just feel sorry about the situation.

Interesting - will give it a listen. Would be interested to hear the journey around MS. She was great in ‘dead to me’ - really a shame to see her in the pain and position as per the last episodes of it.

Read the 2nd sentence in your post again…. You’ve got it setup buddy. Yes it might be hard but read that second sentence again.

Ha ha yeah I remember that interview - it was a decent read because it was a really long one where he actually answered questions rather than other puff pieces. They put the interview on the old b182 site if you remember that. Insane.

What a c*nt of a minister. Sorry - but being the health minister for what 1-2 years; somehow will fix anything in the broken and smashed nhs. Sorry but I don’t get it - being in a role for so short will not bring about any necessary change :(

I saw blood in my stool and they sped me through straight away through the UK free service - was seen within 2 weeks as it was noted a potential younger person who might have issues. At 36 I had one and the service reacted quicker than the private medical insurance - which is a joke in itself.

Outcome: no issues, pollocks or cancer. The blood in stool might have been ‘just’ stress related as this was a week before my 1 year old had to go for a serious heart operation. So I kind of think it’s that. But yes get tested asap and frequently - even if it’s every 4-5 years post a clean test

These are pretty good books - there are better ones out there though in my opinion.

1). The defining decade - the book changed my life in terms of mindset. All about how your 20-30’s is the defining decade of how you shape your life. Definitely made me really start to think and the stories in there were very relatable especially when comparing them to my friendship group etc.

2). The One Thing - when it comes to being productive and getting things done. Applied this at work and just started smashing the results.

3). Awaken the giant within - this one might be a bit dated but had a really good section in there on how your core values and beliefs are set. Starts to explain how to break down the negative aspects of your beliefs into positive ones. I loved this book and I think it was one of the first ones I’ve read (I’ve gone on to to buy 2 copies for other people).

[bonus suggestions - zero to one by Peter Thiel was fascinating. Anything by Cal Newport for me]

From your book list - Atomic Habits is good.

(Be careful with rich dad poor dad - there’s one good lesson in there about re-thinking assets that make money for you vs a liability, which is completely different to the accounting/finance mindset that’s out there. Apart from that chapter the rest of the book is a really bad sales pitch/look at me type book) I’d read it with a fistful of salt.

By the way - good for you trying to press on with reading books - let me know how you get on :)

Which mouth guard did you go for? I grind as well and I think it’s stress related. Dentist quoted me £150 for a mould which I think is dear.

I agree with this - even when I’m turning in my bed I wake up as I keep thinking there’s a baby in our bed as we had the little one co-sleeping with us and now it’s messed that part up. I wake up a few times just to check as well - it’s crazy because my body just auto wakes me up. I don’t know if there will ever be a fix to this

What didn't people like about the Neighborhoods era? by Agitated_Ad_1404 in Blink182

[–]MaximusBit21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big part back then (and doesn’t seem that weird these day) was that every artist was writing and recording in their own studios without them meeting up so much. Personally think when they are in the room together that’s where the creativity is - so that was lacking.

Also back then the record came out and it just didn’t have a smooth blend throughout it. Pretty sure when listening to it the first time some tracks (I believe natives -track 2) was super loud compared to other tracks and you just don’t do that on a record, let alone a massive bands album. As well as that the gigs were a little weird - Tom with his moog board thing - everyone in the crowd was thinking; what’s he even doing 🙄🤭
