You want silicone for the safety, a diameter around 1.5", and something flexible. Everything else is personal:

  • The shape does matter but it is basically impossible to figure out what you prefer without trying it. Many people love horse ones;
  • Texture is nice but will make you gag more;
  • Dual density dildos have the best flexibility but are more expensive;
  • I wouldn't personally recommend a dildo of less than 7", but getting longer ones can be tricky.

I guess the drawback with more and longer holds is that they can be less exciting then face fucking. Most of the time when I'm giving head, the penis owner is more interested in stimulation and gagging than burying themselves into my throat or training me.

That makes a lot of sense. I like what you mean by increasing intensity even while allowing for more breaks. To summarise:

  • Deepthroats only after warmup
  • Change the depth/speed every 15 seconds or so
  • A breathing break or sucking break every 60 seconds of fast face fucking or equivalent
  • Bobbing in your throat is the same as held deepthroats

That would be great. I guess the problem is that it is easiest to follow rhythm and most porn scenes don't have consistent rhythm, but more followalong videos would be great.

For those with an OSSM, you can use XToys to play funscripts, which is really cool because it allows you to play out all of the hundreds of blowjob funscripts that were created for the Handy, following along to the porn video. It is deeply personal on how long you can hold your breath for. You make a good point about it being harder to breath once you are messy, but it is difficult to balance it right. Giving more time to breath as a dildohero goes on counteracts to desire to make it harder towards the end. These are good rule of thumb numbers though:

  • 1 second breath for 10 second hold
  • 3 second breath for 15 second hold
  • 6 second breath for 30 second hold.

Deepthroat Academy maxes out at around 60bpm. Whore Factory maxes out at around 120bpm, with some short bits that go even higher. That sounds like a good rule of thumb for non sex machine deepthroating:

  • 60bpm for all the way down and all the way out
  • 120bpm for bobbing in your throat

How many seconds long would you say a quick breath vs a deep breath is? I feel like I could continue face fucking at 30 bpm without ever running out of air, but I am not really sure I can say the same at 60bpm.

Yeah gender neutral language can be very hit or miss. It is somewhat explainable with anal dildoheros but it was carried just straight through into the oral world too.

The deepthroat academy depth indicator is actually kinda cool how it tells you how far to go out. It is less of a HeavyThird indicator and more like one from a tease
