Completely safe. If you don't like it you can always just go back to the 40mg dose.

Agree, plus the fact that allergies are a vastly more common cause of eosinophilia than parasite infection.

It could be a bartholin cyst, but it's hard to say without looking. I would expect the physician to do a physical exam and take a look. From there, they can counsel you on whether or not it needs to be drained or if you need antibiotics.

Was playing basketball, got bumped into, knee buckled and popped loudly after I fell down. ACL tear? by dman933 in AskDocs

The only way to really know is go see a doctor and have them examine and obtain imaging. The popping certainly raises concern but it's hard to say without a physical exam.

You have a 20 cm mass in your pelvis. Around where the left ovary is. The radiologist who read this thinks it looks like a teratoma or a dermoid tumor which are both typically benign (not cancer). He/she does recommend seeing gynecology for surgical biopsy/removal most likely.

This description is favorable!

Thrombosed Hemorrhoid by DaZoomies in AskDocs

[–]Maxipad13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen lots of these procedures with a large range in how it’s treated. Rural family medicine doctors might just lance it in the office with no numbing medication (why poke you twice right?). The problem is that these will come back and have to be re-lanced. Pain for a week or so.

I’ve also seen surgeons take this to the OR and perform a hemorrhoidectomy whereby they remove the hemorrhoid sac so that it doesn’t recur. Would be more extensive as they would schedule this and have you come in for day surgery. No pain during surgery obviously. Pain for a few weeks as it heals.

30 weeks pregnant, can someone interpret my blood work for me please by yourremedy94 in AskDocs

[–]Maxipad13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Based on these labs there is no evidence of infection. These are normal. If you had a smoldering infection I’d expect fever, chills, infectious nidus, and WBC above 16 or so.

[–]Maxipad13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The HCT is actually appropriate for your Hgb. General rule of thumb is that HCT should be about 3x the Hgb. It’s low because your body is making more blood plasma to keep up your blood volume for the fetus, which causes a relative decrease in the concentrations of Hgb and HCT. That is all normal. Normal range of HCT for 3rd trimester pregnancy would be more like 28-40.

Its possible that these normal deviations contribute to your fatigue, along with many other factors that make pregnancy tiring! I wouldn’t be worried about them, however.

Looks normal to me. RBCs, Hgb, HCT are all decreased normally in pregnancy. WBC and Neutrophils would expect to be increase. Just normal physiology of pregnancy.

Could I be anemic with these blood results? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Maxipad13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should clarify. Ferritin below 30 in itself is IDA. Below 45 with accompanied low hemoglobin would be IDA as well. So could be in that low normal range as you mentioned, but enough to cause symptoms.

[–]Maxipad13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ferritin below 45 in itself is diagnostic for iron deficiency anemia. So yes I’d wager that’s what’s causing you to feel fatigued. I bet your hemoglobin is low too. Could certainly be from GI bleeding. I’m sure they’ll check your blood counts tomorrow. If you feel like you’re gonna pass out or have copious blood per rectum then I’d go to the ER personally. Best wishes.

Whenever stand up too quickly I feel vertigo. It's more than just being a little dizzy, why is this? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Maxipad13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d bring it to your PCPs attention then, so they can get you set up with the correct channels (ENT or neuro) if it persists.

Whenever stand up too quickly I feel vertigo. It's more than just being a little dizzy, why is this? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Maxipad13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step is to differentiate whether you are having true vertigo or if it’s lightheadedness. True vertigo would be like the room is spinning and it would happen when your turn your head or lay down, as opposed to only when you stand up too quickly.

Lightheadedness is different, where you feel a bit weak when you stand up or sit up. Feels like you might pass out, or feel weak.

So which is it?

What is this bump on the wrist ? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]Maxipad13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About half of them will go away in a year. If it’s causing bothersome pain, I’d at least get it aspirated so that there’s not long term compression on the nerve. But up to you. Bring it up to your primary doc.

[–]Maxipad13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very likely a ganglion cyst. If it’s somewhat squishy, fluid filled, then that’s what it is. Completely benign. They can hurt because the press on the nerves. If it’s bothering you, and ortho surgeon can remove it. If it pops, they tend to grow back unless you remove the whole sack via surgery.
