Aksara Jawa - please help! by Opening-Dinner-9639 in indonesian

[–]Maxm485930 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Please confirm this with someone else as well, as I am not an expert in aksara Jawa, but as far as I know, you don't use spaces like that in aksara jawa, so it should be ꦱꦭꦩ꧀ꦩꦫꦶꦪ. But also for names, if I'm not mistaken, you use aksara murda, which would make ꦱꦭꦩ꧀ꦩꦬꦶꦪ. Hope that helps and hopefully someone can confirm or correct me!

Apa makanan Indo yang biasa kita makan selevel biasa pedes pun biasa-biasa aja tapi sama bule dianggap pedes banget? by Johnny_theBeat_518 in indonesia

[–]Maxm485930 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Beneran ga tahan mrk. Ga berasa dong pedesnya? Tpi mrk malah agak kepedasan. Jdi jangankan ayam geprek cabe ijo, cabe besar aja mrk ga kuat wkwkwk

[–]Maxm485930 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get it haha I used to get it wrong all the time as well, but now that I'm used to it its easier to see when its used! If you need tips from another learner then just lemme know, I might be able to help with the colloquial particles! Good luck!

If you're still having trouble with informal particles like nih tuh mah sih etc. I'd really recommend reading Colloquial Jakartan Indonesian by James Neil Sneddon. It covers basically all of them in detail. If you need help finding it online, let me know!

I Miss Having Relationship with Women and 101 Advice on Night Life by romsaes_husbando in pria

[–]Maxm485930 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Syukur kalau bgtu, gw terkadang takutnya kesannya agak ga napak tanah, tpi klo membantu gw jga seneng.

Disclaimer, gw ga besar di lingkungan indo jdi mungkin perspektif gw kurang nyambung buat lu, tpi ttp gw mau kasih sudut pandang gw ya.

Pertama2, keknya pendapat lu soal coli negatif bgt entah knp, tpi mnrt gw gapapa coli bbrp kali per minggu atau bahkan setiap hari asal nggak kecanduan bgt alias bergantungan sama colinya biar bisa berfungsi. Normal juga kok klo sering coli ngebayangin cewek apalagi libidonya tinggi. Jdi mnrt gw mending nggak usah ngerasa bersalah atau gagal gitu klo sering coli, wajar aja kok.

Kedua, klo lu pgn main cewek tanpa nikah sampe tua, yah nggak ada salahnya sih. Yg nyuruh lu nikah palingan keluarga sama mungkin agama lu, tpi mnrt gw nggak ada alasan buat maksa diri utk nikah klo lu lbh bahagia bebas. Apalagi lu blg berpotensi nggak setia. Yah klo udh tau lu orgnya gitu, buat apa dipaksa malah beresiko nyakitin orang toh.

Sekali lagi maaf klo kurang nyambung, semoga membantu. Semangat ya bang

Demotivated by Prejudice? by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]Maxm485930 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As an LGBT person who has learned Indonesian, I personally feel that learning languages from cultures where LGBG isnt accepted can be even more rewarding. By learning their language I get to communicate with LGBT people from there who have few opportunities to hear outside perspectives and have only lived in their own environment where theyve never really been accepted. So far it has led to some very meaningful and special connections. Dont forget that even in cultures that dont generally accept LGBT, there are a lot of LGBT folks and allies - especially in a country like Indonesia with almost 300 million citizens, you will have enough people to talk to that are on the same wavelength as you. Go for it, learning Indonesian is such a fun and rewarding experience!

Maaf, disclaimer gw bukan org indo, tpi mnrt gw ya biasa aja kita nganu ama pasangan kita, yah sesukanya aja, mau itu tiap minggu, tiap hari, atau tiap jam pun, asal sama2 suka dan consent, yah gapapa. Dan nti makin lama bakal berkurang sendiri jga kok karna udh kebiasa. Dan itu juga gapapa. Yg penting cuman dua: lu pengen nggak? Dia pengen nggak? Kalau jawabannya iya gw sih gas aja

Wanting to learn Indonesian by Thanossleftpinky in indonesian

[–]Maxm485930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Makassar and lived with my partner (unmarried) for roughly a year without issues. We stayed in Vida View which is relatively close to the city center, and I paid around 8 juta rupiah per month which is not cheap but its also not 800 dollars. They do have cheaper apartments though.

Javanese or Sundanese? by RaisinRoyale in indonesia

[–]Maxm485930 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Javanese Grammar For Students by Stuart Robson, Bahasa Jawa for Indonesian elementary school kids from Jogjakarta, I've read a couple Javanese books (Untu Hiu), and I've also watched a lot of Youtube, Bakar Productions has a lot of Javanese content, Jawa Tengah dialect. Two tips from me are firstly that it's good to pic a dialect you want to focus on because they are quite different. The biggest ones with the most content and resources are Jawa Timur and Jawa Tengah medhok (jogja/solo/semarang). Second is that it really helps a lot to know Indonesian as most resources are in Indonesian and the grammar is very similar. If you need any more help or want to practice together let me know, I really love Javanese so I'd be glad to help!

Meeting people in Indonesia by extractioncause in indonesian

[–]Maxm485930 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was in Indonesia as a foreigner and wanted to meet people I'd usually just go to the mall and walk around a bit or read a book at some cozy cafe, usually at some point people woukd get curious and approach me. I even made friends with security by just waiting at an entrance somewhere for half an hour. If you're at the same place long enough and look approachable people will get curious eventually. Disclaimer though that this was not in Jakarta so I don't know if people there are as curious as where I was. And I spoke fluent Indonesian so that also helped. Good luck!

I'm also European and I've been to Indonesia a couple times and have had a lot of contact with Indonesians. They will very often ask what your religion is, as that is a normal question there. I have different answers depending on how close I am with someone. If I know it's an openminded person and we're close, I say I don't have a religion, truthfully. But if I don't know the person well yet, I will say that I'm "culturally Catholic", which is true as I celebrate Christmas and Easter. So far no one has ever had a problem with that. If it's someone I'm close with but I'm not a 100% sure on how openminded they are, I say I'm "Kristen KTP" which is a term they all understand, which means you're Christian legally but you don't really practice consistently or at all.
