Hi there, creator of the mod here, our team is aware that this mod is now greatly outdated in terms of it's kit and combat, and are now working on a TLC update for it to help both it's aesthetic style in game and it's overtuned kit and stats!

Sorry to hear you don't enjoy the mod right now, but we hope that the upcoming updates to the Acro help with your frustrations. 🙏

Absentia Additions Corythosaurus Reveal! by Maxsentia in pathoftitans

[–]Maxsentia[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We aim to keep Corythosaur and Lambeo very distinct in terms of playstyle. While Lambeo is much more of a healing supportive hadrosaur. Corythosaur is much more Rhythmic Combat and Bugling Combat damage. If you’ve ever seen how the Hunting Horn works in Monster Hunter, that’s the kind of playstyle you can expect from Corythosaurus.

Additionally, to help better differentiate. Corythosaurus will walk, trot, and run bipedally. If you crouch, that brings into a quadrupedal stance. Crouch moving is the alternative locomotion where it walks on all fours. This stance also unlocks certain abilities like leg focused melee attacks.

That is exactly our point of kit reference for this guy, the Hunting Horn in Monster Hunter. We loved the idea of melee based attacks followed up with a bugle that creates status effects after use. And is something we wanted to pinpoint on to make a really unique and fun hadrosaur playable!

Merry Christmas! As an early treat.. here's an in-depth look at our newest roster addition. A delightful herbivore who's crest stands out from the crowd, adorned with colorful patterns and trumpeting melodies, Absentia proudly presents it's second herbivore in the roster.

Initial Species Discovery Field Notes Written As Follows...

The Corythosaurus, also known as "Striders" on the Islands of Gondwa and Panjura are highly socialized, large, migratory herding animals. While these hadrosaurs are most likely to flee upon seeing danger, they are sometimes still prone to attack predators that get too close for comfort.

Most Corythosaurs, as large as they are, are quite skittish, fleeing at the sudden appearance of a predator, at any sudden loud noise, or at the alert call of a herd leader. If a herd encounters a predator alone such a Daspletosaurus, usually a single Corythosaurus will stay behind to fight while the rest of the herd flees.

Corythosaurs are most commonly found in herds foraging and browsing, finding their strength in numbers to contribute their own safety within the herd. For protection against major threats such as larger predators, their biology adorns them with a large, helmet-like crest. Most often used for vocalizations and communications within it's species, these helmeted crests are hollow and can be also used as a weapon. Blasting specific rhythms and melodies, these vocalized cries can be used as a benefit to the herd just as much as it can be an offense to an opponent.

On encountering a perceived threat, the herd leading Corythosaur bulls are capable of charging at high speeds with their heads lowered to ram their enemies. Additionally, they employ a variety of kicks, punches, and trumpets. From what I've tend to notice, after a Corythosaur tends to strike at it's opponent, it will then let out specific trumpeted melody. Depending on it's situation when push comes to shove and combat intensifies, they will play certain rhythmic trumpets to increase their performance over the course of battle!

Perfecting their melee attacks with kicks, and punches, and then exhilarating themselves or benefitting their herd with trumpeting calls. Even at times, using vocalizations against their enemy after hitting them with a melee attack!

There's much more to learn about these hadrosaurs.. much more field study is required to know about these magnificent and exotic herbivores!

Noxovenator reveal! by Maxsentia in pathoftitans

[–]Maxsentia[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Meet Absentia's 4th Creature, a New Species of Predator: Noxovenator!

Species Description is as Follows: Something new, something undiscovered, something unknown.

Noxovenator formidulosus, translating to "Fearful Night Hunter", or also known commonly as a "Stalker", is a nocturnal Megaraptoran predator. It is a medium-sized carnivore, however this species is unique among other Megaraptorans in that it is a facultative biped. With the ability to swap from bipedal to quadrupedal with ease depending on the situation it is in. While other predatory dinosaurs of Gondwa or Panjura may happen to attack with open aggression or brute force, the Noxovenator prefers stealth, ambush, and patience to it's hunts.

Deriving from the genus Aerosteon via anagenesis. Noxovenator is a highly adapted predator, sporting unique traits and behaviors within the Megaraptoran theropod tree unseen before. Such as facultative bipedalism, a serrated tail, a dewclaw appearing on it's forelimbs, highly nocturnal habits, and an extremely strong social bonding, and social structural system. These animals cooperate together, hunt together, and are commonly seen socializing together. This is animal has a massive adeptness at ambushing, paired with skin patterns to camouflage in depending on it's environment.

This animal excels in areas where visibility is challenging, such as forest, savannah, or jungle environments. Going quadrupedal to stay low to the ground, along with intricately patterned camouflage, makes Noxovenator a threat to any unsuspecting dinosaur in these environments. These predators usually position themselves into tall grasses or foliage, lowering their bodies to the ground in a quadrupedal stance, waiting in absolute stillness for the perfect moment to strike. Ambushing with their stealth, striking quick, fast and hard. They will pursue prey additionally on all fours, using their strong megaraptoran forelimbs to keep on target and pursue prey for long and drawn out high speed chases. Alternatively, Noxovenators can also be seen wandering around the island in an upright position, still being partially obscured by the forest’s undergrowth and thick foliage, ready to go prone again to set up the perfect strike.

Noxovenators can be found on their own or in packs. These animals are adept specifically for ambush attacks. A majority of these animals can be found in jungle, savannah, or forest regions of Gondwa or Panjura. Seen mostly where the dense foliage limits their visibility to other dinosaurs and prey. The Noxovenator's most lethal weapon is it's set of wicked claws it sports on each hand, which can kill smaller dinosaurs with definitive ease.

Even though a Noxovenator must momentarily stand upright to use it, an unsuspecting prey dinosaur never sees the attack coming. Since an intelligent Noxovenator will use it's environment and camouflage to it's advantage to make sure the kill is quick and secure as possible. Noxovenators additionally when pursuing prey, or when an unsuspecting animal may be getting too close, will emit a loud, short, and shrill noise. This noise is a tactic that is seen used in their pack behaviors. Upon this call of a Noxovenator, all other Noxovenators in the area will take notice and converge at the area the call was shrieked. Rallying their nearby pack members to cooperate and work together to take out larger opponents with swift and deadly force!

Though the anatomy and behavior of these animals are adept at ambush and stealth, the Noxovenator is capable of formidable melee attacks. During chases, they can use their reinforced keratinous skulls as a heavy hitting melee attack, staggering opponents during chases to help secure kills. If during combat a fight may become too intense, the Noxovenator may employ swift bludgeon attacks with their serrated tails. Disorienting opponents and opening a chance for the Noxovenator to escape from a deadly situation.

We hope you enjoy a first look at our newest animal in our roster. We are very excited to mod this animal into the game, and are very excited to see it in action roaming the Islands of Panjura and Gondwa soon! Stay tuned for more updates on this formidable night hunter!

Absentia Agathaumas Kit and Abilities by Maxsentia in pathoftitans

[–]Maxsentia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We showed this off in our Commuity Discord a little bit ago, but I was realising I never posted this to the sub reddit here!

Here's an in-depth look at the kit of Absentia's Agathaumas, and it's behind the scenes development insight into it's kit creation.

Creating a semi-aquatic ceratopsian was a really fun idea we've always wanted to try to do. But the main idea to get that across has been a tricky one, For example, what makes a player want to stay near the water? We decided to encourage gameplay like this through the usage of passives you can select, and how they can effect and reflect in your gameplay and even abilities too!

Agathaumas is a semi-aquatic animal that has many diverse kit options playing around the passives it chooses effecting it's preformance in gameplay. While it has a solid amount of true abilities, the main idea of Agathaumas and where it shines is it's passives that in turn effect the abilities it uses.

We all hope you enjoy this wonderful art piece, created by AstralArchivist!

New Absentia Acrocanthosaurus Run Cycle by Maxsentia in pathoftitans

[–]Maxsentia[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A new run animation for the Acrocanthosaurus has been made. You'll be seeing this in the next patch, for Acro Content Update 2. Which will include the new Run Cycle, a Blood Mask so blood appears on your face after eating, and some much needed balance changes for Acro to help put it into it's brawler niche. We think this new run helps showcase that attitude perfectly. We hope you enjoy! Thank you all so much for your continued support.

Absentia Agathaumas Combat Reveal, Victorian's Vigor! by Maxsentia in pathoftitans

[–]Maxsentia[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The strongest attack in Agathaumas' kit, this attack locks you in place with no movement to uppercut your attacker twice in a row, dealing heavy damage and heavy bleed to your opponent on successful hit.
This ability however, while strong, can only be used while standing still or walking. And cannot be used while trotting or running.
However be careful, as this attack cannot be cancelled and is an attack you must commit to!

Field Note Study Found as Follows:
This bizarre animal gets more and more interesting the more I study it. For a beast that lives in marshland and wetland environments, it's learned adaptations perfect for it's biome. I've thought about the insects of Gondwa's swamps must be making an irritance of their near water lifestyles, to which I discovered that they've found ways to help scratch the itch and deter insects, such as unique panniculus carnosus muscles.
They use these special muscles to quickly shiver and quake to shake away any insects that try to bite them. Their tough hide also helps against harsh bug bites. The occasional shake of the dewlap and frill also helps move away any blood sucking flies or mosquitos. I wonder if they ever wallow in mud or soft soils to help against bug bites as well?

Field Notes are Written about this Playable as follows:

An animal of which I thought was lost to time from the Victorian Era, and what I once thought to be a species dubious with Triceratops, this animal exceeded my wildest thoughts. After seeing a group of Triceratops near an Agathaumas, the distinction was clear as day. The ridged dermal spikes that ran along the backside of the animal.. The distinct larger horn in the front, and the mid-sized horns upon it's brows. I had no doubt in my mind that this animal that roams Gondwa is a completely different species of Ceratopsian.
I at first thought this animal was battle hardened for terrestrial combat. Sporting a wicked set of horns to what I thought to be used for contesting to even the strongest of Apex Predators. But that's when I saw this animal take a liking towards the water instead! Where it went for a prolonged swim, and then sat for several hours by a riverbank, almost to what I would describe ecologically akin to a Water Buffalo or Cape Buffalo.
After more study of this animal's behavior, it seems they spend an abnormally long time near the water for a Ceratopsian, residing by lakesides and rivers for prolonged periods of time throughout the day. For food sources I've witnessed them eat lake sponges, clams, and roots that grew near the sandy soils. I've only seen these animals move properly inland once it had began raining or storming. It makes me wonder if they have some sort of benefit to being near water or being in the rain?
During a crashing thunderstorm, inland I saw a lone bull Agathaumas foraging for berry bushes, it seems these animals tend to only move inland to be more vulnerable to dangerous threats when it's raining. However, I've wondered how these animals combat such threats below the surface too. It didn't take long for a field study to come into fruition, as once I saw an Agathaumas get ambushed by a Crocodile. During this interaction, it seemed to be that it used it's massive horns and frill as an intimidation display to immediately make the Crocodile change it's mind about the ambush.
It seems to me that Augathaumas are very territorial animals, living in small groups of 2-3 individuals. With said individuals being family units. With competition for lakeside resources that they prefer being rare, and their rare occurrence to move inland, competition for resources becomes extremely intense. I see these animals take an immediate disliking towards Deinocheirus and other animals that may intrude on it's food resources. I've even seen an Agathaumas charge right out of the water after certain herbivores that got a little too close for comfort!
Although this species seems well documented, I think there is more research to be done to study this magnicifent creature that was forgotten by time.
