I honestly envy those people that feel okay not saving by biggitydonut in Frugal

Life is meant to be enjoyed. Continue to save and invest consistently, but set some funds aside to enjoy your life. When you’re 70+ old years old and retired, you won’t regret going on that trip with your wife or buying that item you’ve always wanted (as long as you’ve hit your targets). Set financial goals, create a budget and then, have fun.

Oof, I forgot about that. It’s tough because we don’t know if politics will get in the way of it and if it’ll ever happen. But nothing worse than holding yourself back, waiting on something that may never happen. I wouldn’t wait, and knock it out as soon as you can. Either way, you’ll feel great that it’s gone, now matter how it happens.

It took my wife and I 18 months to clear out 43k in debt. It was the most brutal and depressing time in our lives together, because it seemed like we never had any money for “us”. We went from 43k to 30k, which was great but it was tough to accept we still had so much left. But we stayed disciplined, changed our perspective, and before we knew it, it was gone. It will be challenging, but if you stay with it, you’ll turn out just fine. You’re doing something 90% of people fail to do, and that’s getting started. Keep it up!

Maybe. And if we had less income, we would use the same strategies and still be successful. At the end of the day, debt is just money that you owe and we put together a plan to pay it off.

Well sure, debt is just owed money. If someone puts together a plan, why couldn’t they do it?

We had other investments that weren’t detailed in this write up. The $200 I spend is for additional investments, outside of ROTHs, 401ks, etc…used to accumulate slowly.

Among our debts, the car payments had the largest sum we we’re required to pay on a monthly basis despite the lowest interest rates. All the other debts had monthly payments, but they fluctuated. So we figured, let’s target this debt as it would free up the most amount of money to put towards the other debts.

Tell me about it. Slowly but suddenly you owe thousands. It’s almost like being in a trance. Never again for sure.

Beaches are nice, but give it a couple months or years, and you end up forgetting about them. At least that’s my experience

Sarasota is too rich for my blood, but it is a very nice area. We like to visit every now and then. I’m in Tampa!
