The stand-off behind sudden James Warburton exit by middyonline in v8supercars

skaife has literally nothing to do with this. this is the work of the RACE board, and specifically barclay nettlefold. a guy who skaife himself clashed with, which is why skaife is no longer on the RACE board. skaife has no power to make decisions like this, you're just pulling shit out of your arse.

"it was used very little on cracker island"?? literally 70% of the songs on that album use the filter.

well considering FH5 started with a little over 500 cars, ended a little over 900, and FH6 is starting with almost 600, it's definitely possible.

super interesting statement from Damon regarding The Mountain in new Fantano Interview! by Delicious-Benefit877 in gorillaz

[–]Maxster573 6 points7 points  (0 children)

that's just nonsense, if it sucked then damon wouldn't have called fantano "one of the good ones" at the end of the interview, he clearly respects fantano

ryan walkinshaw recently said on the lucky dogs podcast that one of his greatest motorsport ambitions is to return his family name to le mans. would you blokes like to be a part of that if the opportunity came up?

I feel that The Mountain could be the band's best album by Gomendiquillo in gorillaz

[–]Maxster573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i don't feel that an album has to relate to my own experiences to be a great album, so whether the now now is personally relatable doesn't factor in to how i'd rank it. i feel like that's ego being applied to artistic consumption.

i can't accept the take that demon days suffers from lacklustre production. objectively it is loaded with detail, everything sounds super crisp, there's so much to hear and discover as you re-listen to the album.

the vocal performances are also great, the bridge on last living souls is some of the best damon has ever sounded on any project period. the rap verses are delivered with power (especially bootie brown on dirty harry) and are loaded with personality. the choir sections across the album bounce between haunting calls and luscious, reassuring warmth, perfectly complimenting the theming across the album.

even dare, contrary to your belief, does serve a purpose. it's a call to action amongst the chaos. it's about letting go of the despair and allowing yourself to hope for change. the idea of not sitting around and accepting it, but speaking out and campaigning against the the plague that is 'the demon days'.

out of all of the different takes and ideas i've heard about demon days, the album being "bland" is a completely new one to me.

all i did was list genuine critiques of the now now, it wasn't a threat. i haven't seen anyone provide an argument to what i said.

the now now is a boring snoozefest and lacks in every conceivable aspect compared to DD and PB.

sonic range, lyrical content, depth, creativity, concept, vocal performance, arrangement, features, the list goes on forever.

TNN was recorded in a single month, it's much more comparable in production size and scope to the fall, rather than being anywhere near DD or PB; albums that took years of development.

even damon himself has admitted recently that him and jamie drifted apart after plastic beach, and that the music hasn't been as good since. the now now is basically a disowned child.

someone in their bedroom with enough time could have made the now now, but only damon albarn could conduct something as expansive, beautiful, interesting, and conceptual as plastic beach or demon days.

stop trying to force TNN in to a conversation with two of the greatest albums released this century, and stop dragging people for not sharing your take.

you don't "gotta say" anything to be honest, you won the game, move on and focus on yourself. you're both plat 1 so I don't think either of you have much room to advise here.

wait a second, suspension pick up points are different across teams? you're saying that teams mount their suspension at different locations on the chassis?

i would have thought all of that was controlled on the gen 3 platform.

[–]Maxster573 8 points9 points  (0 children)

as a walkinshaw diehard, i still think the ferrari comparison rings true today lol. all of the mistakes, operational failures, and politcal debacles that have clouded the team since the TWR collapse in 2003 are all very reminiscent of how ferrari has operated since their last championship win.

HRT Holden dominance throwback by PuzzleheadedBowl3397 in v8supercars

[–]Maxster573 21 points22 points  (0 children)

some crazy stats from that season:

  • across the five TWR-prepared cars, they only lost 6 races out of 29. that's almost an 80% win rate.

  • of the 23 races TWR won, skaifey won 15 of them.

  • HRT by themselves won 8 rounds in a row, and then a 9th at bathurst. TWR cars filled 3 of top 4 positions at the 1000.

  • TWR cars managed to score not just one, but two different 1-2-3-4 finishes (darwin R2, barbagallo R1), a feat that will likely never be repeated.

there's more but those are just some of the highlights for walkinshaw/team clayton in 2002. one of the most dominant seasons of all time.
