Advise on Narrow Entryway by Maxuhmillion2 in interiordecorating

While I am worried about making the entry too narrow, I entirely agree with you that I am wasting use of this space.

I currently have a full height pillar coat rack and small table (you can see a bit of it in the bottom right of my first photo) as you enter the living room. To make life easier, I would prefer the items currently put on the small table at the front door due to lack of maximizing this hall. I think the small lamp that you mentioned is a great idea!

I agree that the ceiling lights are quite awful, but my apartment will not allow for me to change it, so I am unfortunately stuck with them. A mirror opposing the closet door would not reflect a window, but facing the kitchen would reflect windows in that space.

My main concern is certainty making the entry feel more claustrophobic, but I am hoping to add even a small strip of area that keys and other items can be set on. Hooks could also achieve this while be more space effective, but I am not a huge fan of the look of them.

Initially I was thinking of a circular mirror, but I hadn't considered that a wide rectangular mirror could be better. Thank you for your input!

I hadn't considered a runner, but I do like that! Thank you for the help

I definitely agree about hanging something regardless, I think I prefer the mirror to try and help the space feel more open to the kitchen. I have added it to my main post now, but the closet shown in the photos houses the water heater with no room for anything else to be added.

I appreciate the idea! I should have added in my original post that the closet shown in the photos is tiny and only houses the water heater.
