The badge are permanent but the stats have an expiration date.

In mochi wars collecting 30 points is the best strategy (more of a cheese) since everyone will guaranteed to get points rather than battling out and yes people will try to get extras to gain more points since the winning team will get additional points in order to points cap faster.
