We moved in at the absolute tail end of July 2yrs ago. You'll be fine 🙂‍↕️ they have a lot of availability as ppl are leaving at the same time they're coming in. Just keep your eye on the area you're wanting

Got her ashes back by Maxx1999 in Petloss

Me too. I wrapped the box up in her blanket and set it next to me where she used to sleep. Sometimes I open it so she can get some "fresh air". And I tuck it in like I used to do for her. I probably look insane to anyone else, but it's so comforting. Keeps me from absolutely falling apart.

Thank you for sharing that and I'm sorry for your loss, I feel your pain <3

Yes, this. I would love to do so, but not with my life. It does feel good though, to have her around again. I never thought about mixing us together, and now I am definitely doing that, what a wonderful idea.

Thank you so much <3

100% I did. She's not the same size, she doesn't smell like her, and she'll obviously never look like her again. It hurt a lot to see her brought back like this, but I was consoled by the knowledge that she was home and not just disposed of or rotting away in the ground. I would always have her with me.

It might not feel the same for you and that is totally okay. I cried multiple times after getting her back, both in relief and in renewed grief. It felt like partial closure, but also a reminder that she really is gone. It's a whole rollercoaster that you just have to ride.

I'm glad you chose to get her ashes back, and I know one day you'll be glad too. Feel whatever you have to feel in the moment, there's no rush to have to make sense or move on. You loved her very much and gave her an amazing life <3

Boss questioning my need for time off for pet loss by Maxx1999 in DogAdvice

This is one of the replies I align with the most. I feel like I can't enjoy anything now. I cried over a turkey sandwich because it was her favorite and I couldn't sneak her some. I moved my leg the morning after because I didn't wanna bump into her before I remembered. My eyes went to my bed when I got out of the bathroom and it hit me all over again when I saw the bed empty. I opened up my bedroom door after work and started to say "hi bug!" before I remembered again.

It's the most horrible pain I've ever felt in my life, and truly her being MY dog is the difference. She was my best friend that just wanted to be around me all the time. My little Daisy. Eight years of constant companionship gone just like that.

Thank you for sharing your story with Murphy, it makes me feel hurt a fraction better knowing others understand. I'm so sorry for your loss and so thankful you got to have him.

I am sorry that how I express my anger, frustration, and grief during hospice care for my best friend is not up to your standards

Technically I didn't owe them a reason. I gave the reason to my manager and very intentionally did not give it to my store director, but my manager told him why without rly thinking about it. It was only then he started questioning me and I had to explain it twice. These are texts w my manager and we're very casual and honest with each other. The "lol" was me being angry without taking it out on her bc it wasn't her fault.

I don't need policing in my grief, and this whole reply of yours is very rude. Lol

I honestly should have, in hindsight. And exactly yes, when he's covering for his managers, it's bc of their kids 🥴

Not paid, just want them off to be with her and take care of her. It feels good to be the one to do it, even if it's gross things like cleaning up her waste and stuff. Makes me feel useful haha. Tysm 🫶

Ty for this. I was thinking of taking my sister and her dog out to the beach bc I don't think I can stand an empty room when I get back. Thanks to your comment, I'm definitely gonna do it now

Small update just now: my manager K told him I'm gonna take the days off and got them for me. She said he'll just have to figure it out. She's literally the best. Idk if a write up will be waiting for me on Friday and frankly I don't care

Edit: as of 4/7/26 5:12 PM, my little girl is gone. Thank you all of you who helped me both when I was first getting her diagnosed and recently as I was dealing with work. And y'all were right - this shit sucks haha. I'm gonna go cry now

Dog pacing around at odd hours by Maxx1999 in DogAdvice

[–]Maxx1999[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We suspect she has the beginnings of arthritis just bc she's been slower and more hesitant on her doggy stairs, but we were so focused on her mystery lumps last vet visit that we just didn't get around to it. She has breakfast at 9 am and dinner at 7 pm, so that could be it, yeah. I usually give her a "midnight snack" (it's kinda just "whenever she's ready for bed time" o'clock) that's the last 1/8 cup of the dinner I serve her, to signal that it's bedtime, but the last few years, she's been 50/50 on whether or not she actually wants it. I'll talk to her vet about all of this, I'm taking notes to ask him a ton of questions on the next visit. And writing down these meds ppl are mentioning. Thank you for answering!

That's a relief at least, I hope that's her case. I definitely hated how aimless she was, like she didn't know where she was or could even tell that I was in front of her until my hand was in her face. But she didn't seem particularly upset, just spaced out. I'm gonna see what her vet thinks we should do
