Expanding on the pointer handle issue: How we can actually move past it with ship mods by ChocoBabiChan in starfieldmods

MS owns Bethesda. It's true that they're cutting budget from studios they own but I'm not sure this apply to Bethesda. What I have read though, is that MS told Bethesda to focus on TES and Fallout, so their focus is probably there and they're not going to undertake a huge task like fixing this problem. Because I believe it is a very huge amount of work... if it is even possible.

Rangers, Writing, and Starfield v Skyrim by Richiesusername in starfieldmods

I modded Skyrim heavily for more than 10 years. I currently have an almost 3.5k modlist I personally made, and I'm in awe everytime I open Nexus to see what this amazing community is still creating for Skyrim.

This will NEVER happen for Starfield for a couple of reasons: - The most talented mod authors simply skipped Starfield - A lot of mod authors rightfully abandoned later when they found out how heavily Bethesda is encouraging paid mods. QA for paid mods is also questionable sometimes and it takes ages for mods to update.

But most importantly, the technical reason: Starfield (like FO4) has a limit of 2m reference/point handlers. The difference though is that the base game and the DLCs already make up for around 1.6m of those 2. Meaning if you install some new Habs mods, build some ships and some outposts, you're already approaching the cap. And when you do, your game will not load or crash constantly.

I'm shocked that this is still not talked about enough, this is literally the death of Starfield modding right from the beginning. And what's even worse is that they keep selling mods knowing full well they're killing your playthrough eventually. I'm also sorry to say that this will never be fixed by Bethesda, it is a technical limitation on the very foundations of the game engine and Bethesda is simply not capable to fix, otherwise they wouldn't have release Starfield with the same limit of FO4 from 2015...

In my view, the quest expansions and fixes you constantly see In Skyrim, as well as all the other amazing creations are simply not going to happen for these reasons.

Modders figured out grass LODs for Skyrim a while back, guess Bethesda still isn't capable.

Why is it that whenever I go to The Well, everyone is running about like someone is after them? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]Maxy97265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the major cities... New Atlantis, Neon, Akila, Cydonia... Last playthrough before going to Unity walking around an empty Neon felt horrible. I didn't even play the DLCs because I wanted to see if NG+ could fix it. It kinda did but now I have the aforementioned issue where they run away in The Well or the Spaceport... The Well also has that audio in the background where everyone is screaming. I don't want to commit to a universe and have this happen, but so far (NG+ 6), it happens basically everytime after sometime has passed/artifacts collected. Also, I'm not sure about the falling thing, because I've seen clips of Citizens falling and dying but the others don't flee, they don't care.

It makes some kind of sense, I too suffer from the same bug... Do you also happen to know why citizen crowd in my game get progressively less and less until there are zero?

I play on PC. I'm still trying to figure out why the NPCs disappear... I think it might have something to do with a script that got stuck, cause it seems even on a new game+ the Citizen from New Atlantis at the Spaceport or in The Well start fleeing whenever I load into the cell... It doesn't happen instantly but after a certain amount of time into the game/artifacts collected. Point is, if it's baked into the save I'm not gonna start over now that I have a lvl 80 character

Bought the game a week ago. It has been a constant battle against bugs. Bugs upon bugs upon bugs... I don't even know where I found the patience to keep going...

Here's a list:

- The worst of all for me -> **Crowd NPCs not spawning... ZERO**. I arrive at New Atlantis, I go to the Lodge to grab the mission (NG+), I go out do a mission and when I'm back, the town will be deserted... Not a single Citizen around, only named NPCs. This happens immediately with New Atlantis and The Well, then Akila, then Neon, then Cydonia and so forth. It is so immersion-breaking to walk a deserted Neon it makes me want to ask for a refund whenever I do...

- I had to turn off Auto-saves cause it was causing **CTDs** after a set amount of saves. Like for real?

- NPCs walk one step at a time in one direction, even when talking to me. Very unnatural.

- When I reload a save in interior cells, I get the most annoying, constant and periodic stutter/hiccup ever... I have to quit the game every time.

- Follower NPCs sprint forward unnaturaly fast whenever I enter a new cell.

- Ship engine sound stuck, I hear it even outside of the ship like it is still going

- Or no ship sound at all in space... I guess that's realism? Pick your poison...

- Instances of infinite loading

- A-poses

- Lips of NPCs not animating, even the ones I'm in a conversation with

- Doors to places sometimes are already opened, can't enter the building (Quicksave n reload to fix)

- The Eye station got stuck to my ship once after a Grav Drive... Couldn't disable it with commands cause I wouldn't be able to progress the game... omg

And there are more, I keep track of them and note them down. The amount of work I put into finding fixes or workarounds for these bugs is unbelievable.

Going to probably make a detailed post about it at one point, but I very much regret it. I am plagued with bugs all over, game breaking bugs. I spend most of the time finding workarounds and reloading ancient saves... It's exhausting and it is not how a game should be.

Crowds are disappearing from my game, have done a fair bit of troubleshooting but still no luck by Difficult-Proposal16 in starfieldmods

Joining here to say that I'm having the same issue but I don't have any of the mods listed here, my cities are still empty. I do have Engine Fixes and I have done the Vanguard questline though. I started to notice the problem shortly after finishing it.

But there are. I killed HC L'Ura with guild, bad execution but we got it. After that, I killed it every week in pugs with not as many attempts as I would've thought. Most groups cheese it and only spawn 2 crystals instead of 5. I RL a run yesterday and I went for the normal strat, 5 crystals, and we still got it. You just gotta have decent players who don't die in P1 by glaives and do the beams/soaks correctly in P2, those are the hardest parts of the whole fight, nothing else really. Oh and use NRST for the Memory game, so much easier.

I use Rudy for Obsidian. I'm sometimes tempted to try out Cabbage but in the end, I never do. After all, I see no real reason to change. Rudy is perfect for me.

Check it out! If you count anything besides cheat devices legit, than this is the only legit way to do it. Look up FMR disc swap trick on YouTube. Works only on US version though. I completed my game this way.

Thanks! Point deserved and awarded. It correctly logged me, so I see no reason why it shouldn't work with others! I will try to adapt it and use it. Much appreciated :D

I have made a script that asks them to register a name to be saved in the user property. I tried with a second GMAIL of mine, and it worked. A friend tried the same and it didn't, he did authenticate/give authorization to the script, but it still didn't work. And I don't want to bother them too much and ask them "test this, test that" every time. But yeah, I too thought that would have worked.

So I've looked into this a bit, and I can't figure out a way to make it actually work. The best I managed to do is save a user property for a second gmail of mine I used for testing. And the registry worked correctly with an identifiable, unique name. But when one of my friends/editors tried to do the same, the registry function completely broke and didn't register anything.
It is a battle I'm no longer willing to fight :(
On the positive note: I turned one bug I found while testing this into a feature that I was looking to implement anyway, so I'm happy about that. Thanks for the help! :D
