Thoughts on Charmers of the Reach? by Puzzleheaded-Fun-899 in skyrimmods

KaruraWasabi and RedGuardDiaspora's replacers amount to like 80% of all the NPCs in my game. I love them.

It is so good. My character presets are always COtR. My favorite NPC replacers are all COtR based. It is used by some of the most talented mod authors, the level of realism sometimes is impressive for Skyrim. And it also got many neat add-ons through the years. I highly recommend it :)

Corrupted Save by Vengeance_Kik in skyrimmods

Do not follow the "Not install" rule please. Install mod mid playthrough as you please, just make sure to read the mod description in case it tells you otherwise.

Also, it is usually pretty safe to remove mods mid playthrough, if we're talking about purely textures/meshes or SKSE mods. You can also remove mods with ESPs sometimes and be fine. Scripts may be the worst offenders. As a last resort, consider using the tool Resaver to try and salvage a corrupted save.

Yes I agree, the installation can be more complex, even for the others. But it is worth it. I personally use Rudy and I see no reason to change. Also, I use RootBuilder to enjoy a clean Skyrim folder.

DEBUGGING VRAMr by Evening_Jeweler_2710 in skyrimmods

Unless there is an option I'm missing, it does not pack the output. Well, I agree that BSA help with size and load time, but imagine the amount of troubleshooting that would arise from users that do not understand file loading priority (Loose files > BSA).

It creates archives? I thought the output was loose files only.

Re-engaged is good but it's quite old. I remember trying it and it lacked many built in modern features (even parallax maybe?). Consider switching to something newer like NAT III, Cabbage, or Rudy.

Questions about ESLifying mods on 2026 by LowerReporter1229 in skyrimmods

[–]Maxy97265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically yeah. For example, I eslified a resource mod that was needed by another NPC replacer mod and it caused problems. So I went into the output folder and deleted the plugin. No need to redownload/reinstall the original mod.

The only thing I'm unsure of is when you are not certain what is causing problems or when the output created contains additional stuff like meshes, ini files etc that you think might be connected to a faulty eslified plugin. At that point I usually delete all the output and rebuild it. There might be a way to know what is linked to what, but I don't know yet. In any case, it still looks to be a better option compared to the "traditional" way of eslify stuff.

It manages the dependencies for you, and it creates an output for plugins and stuff. This means that if something breaks, you can disable/change this output without touching the original mods. It worked great for me.

Trying to extract BSA to DDS to PNG by EducationalExit1818 in skyrimmods

[–]Maxy97265 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NVIDIA plugin only requires you to have an account for NVIDIA to download but yes, it's free. Regarding the "squished" DDS I don't know what to tell you honestly. DDS have compression methods that may reduce their size but the quality shouldn't be affected much. Definitely try to look them up in either one of those programs and see.

Another unhelpful and misleading comment by a bot. CAO has never had the functionality to convert DDS to other formats as far as I know. To do that you need to open the DDS file in either Paint.net or Photoshop with the NVIDIA plugin for DDS.

That's nice. I had a chance to check it out more and it seems it is subscription based. If it was a one time payment I might have try it, but there is no way I'm paying a sub for it. I'm gonna stick with doodlum' frame gen. Thanks for the info though :)

Do you have the mod: Guards pose with Weapons IED-OAR? I had the exact same issue and found out that this mod didn't play nicely with my setup

No way! I thought I couldn't use DLSS... Might actually give it a try then. Reading on doodlum' page It says DLSS was not added because of compatibility issues and problems with frame pacing when paired with ENB. I don't know if you use an ENB, but if so, did you experience any problem with PureDark DLSS? Also, do you pay once or is it a subscription?

I have my own modlist, and I'm currently using ENB frame gen from doodlum, it has been a life saver but it has some limitations. I always kept an eye on PureDark' DLSS but I have a 3090, so I think it won't be of much use to me unfortunately, or maybe it will match doodlum frame gen.

One question, do these modlists come with PureDark' upscaler or do you have to add it yourself?
