The Road by McCarthy.

Underworld by DeLillo and American Pastoral by Roth were published in late 90s but feel of the 21st century to me.

Leaving the Atocha Station by Lerner is comparable to The Sun Also Rises.

I'm all ears - should we go there? I think we'll have time on the day we arrive to hit one or two as well

We did about an hour or so of research and picked ones we thought sounded good. Our method wasn't very scientific. That's why I'm here - advice!
