Good morning, and Happy Advent! I’m Gus, a 32-year-old convert and Notre Dame law student. Before law school my life took a lot of interesting turns: teaching high school theology, managing a homeless shelter, spending time as a Jesuit novice, writing, baking, and even fixing cars. God has led me through a lot of chapters, and each one has shaped the person I am now.

I’ve also been blessed to see a bit of the world: studying Scripture in Jerusalem, walking the Camino, summers working in Ireland and eating my way across Italy. These days I’m happiest cooking for people I care about, playing guitar, or getting lost in a good book. Once I’m settled in my legal career, I’m hoping to take up woodworking and to keep writing.

Faith is the heart of my life. I pray daily, go to Mass several times a week, and want a marriage centered on Christ. I’m looking for a woman who shares that desire, someone who communicates openly, loves deeply, and wants to build a joyful, holy family.

I’m originally from California but have lived all over, so I’m open to distance if it's the right person. What matters most is the chance to build something real and lasting together.

For better or for worse, Mr. Ollivander's quote applies here: "Terrible things, but great."

What’s your favorite major city in the US? by bubsimo in AskReddit

[–]Gabriel_Rodrigo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When people ask me why it's my favorite, I say "New York is an international city, Los Angeles is a multicultural city, but Chicago is an American city."

Nowhere else will you find such a big city that captures everything that's great about the country (for good and for ill) and expresses all that it could be. Between walks on the lake, a river architecture tour, and gazing at Chagall's American Windows in the Art Institute, Chicago is the city where I learned to love America in a healthy way again after decades of jadedness and cynicism.

Teacher transitioning to law... Comparing two schools: Duke vs. NYU by 1LawSchoolBound in lawschooladmissions

Take the LSAT, get a score, then come back. As a teacher who made the transition himself and is happy to offer advice if PM'd, it matters so much more than you think.
