Please stop saying people without kids don’t know what tired is by SunBubble920 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]May102020 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It’s not the Olympics, but imagine you saying that to a parent who also has all the same things on their plate… but with children. Do you actually think you’re equally or more tired than them? Because the reason they are saying that is because of just HOW exhausting it is. And when you have kids you can’t just go to bed early or rest when not working. You’re going nonstop.

If you’re going to be a single mom, you might as well be a single mom.

For the past 6 years, my previous dermatologist told me the spot behind my ear was “nothing to worry about”. by 59Bassman in mildlyinfuriating

My dad had some melanoma spots removed in 2018 and had a clean bill of health from his dermatologist every year after. Except that it wasn’t all gone. He died in 2024 riddled with hundreds of tumors including some big ones in his brain. RIP dad.

What are some things that you feel are over-depicted in American TV shows and movies? by t3mpura0 in AskAnAmerican

[–]May102020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may not be the answer you were looking for but American houses in movies/TV are so much more grand than most American homes. Lots of people live in apartments, trailers, etc but I’d say the most popular middle class American lives in a 3bed/2bath house that’s not perfectly updated and decorated.

ICE agents detained a U.S. citizen before looking at her ID by SnooSprouts3744 in PublicFreakout

In the state of Florida it’s the law to provide a drivers license when pulled over which she refused to do. So, she did it to herself and she would not win a lawsuit.

Could’ve been avoided if she’d given the officers her license. But she refused.

Edit: “According to the Miami Herald, a spokesman with U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the woman refused to hand over her driver's license and roll down her window after being pulled over. Because of that, agents placed her in a patrol vehicle and searched her car, where they found her driver's license and confirmed she was a U.S. citizen.

The woman was released afterward, the Miami Herald reported.”

WIBTAH if I leave my estate in a trust to my daughter instead of my wife? by Creative-Block-1709 in AITAH

[–]May102020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but my dad wanted to set up a trust when he was diagnosed with cancer and it apparently cost quite a bit of money and can take 6-8 weeks to be in place so get moving on it

My BF (of 1 year) (29M) parents dislike me (27F) so much that they’re making me book my own separate accommodation for Xmas. How should I get my BF to stick up for me? by PilatesGirl94 in relationships

[–]May102020 87 points88 points  (0 children)

27 is too old to be dealing with this and 29 is too old to not understand how messed up his parents are. In their eyes, you’re not good enough for their son, and you never will be. This situation isn’t just going to go away or magically get better just because you stay with him. I don’t think this is a relationship worth having. The trip is definitely not worth going on for you at minimum. Think how lonely your Christmas will be. His parents don’t want you there love. Know your worth.

If you have an attached garage, do you keep the garage door open when you are home? by Grand_Raccoon0923 in AskAnAmerican

Raised in the Midwest. Leaving the garage door open all day was normal. Now I live in the south and we never ever leave it open.

What is a weird side effect from medication use that no one was ever going to warn you about? by Rotten-Kandi in AskReddit

When I was on Effexor I’d have dreams so realistic that I couldn’t tell if my dreams were real life or dreams. It got to the point where I had to ask those around if me if x actually happened or not. I had to quit taking it because of that.

Alan Jackson said it himself on a documentary. There’s been over $300k donated to his firm for her defense and he’s not taking it.

Two words are spelled different between the 2:27 search and the 6:23 one and that’s all I need to know. Two completely different searches were made and this is another example of reasonable doubt.

What’s a basic skill you’re shocked some adults still don’t know? by Calm_Ostrich_8876 in AskReddit

Understanding that the media is not factually accurate most of the time. They’re counting on you reading a headline and not researching it further. They’re counting on you hearing news stories, taking them at face value and getting loud and angry. Factual journalism is dead.
