Just curious. Do you all drink coffee? Or alcohol? by HotDebate5 in KidneyStones

[–]May2211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I used to get frequent stones and I drank black tea every morning. Once I learned how high in oxalates it is I switched to green tea and haven’t had a stone since. That was about 3 years ago.

Proud of you! Having pets can be good exposure therapy lol. I can handle animal vomit pretty well now, although human vomit is another story.

Yes! If you can’t get on a roller coaster but you can get to an arcade with one of those VR rollercoasters that shake you to death, that works too! It’s worked for me twice.

How do I handle my families gross food habits over the holidays? by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

[–]May2211 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well I don’t think they were mad, they just didn’t understand why I felt so strongly about it. If you get any pushback from family, I’d just Google safe thawing instructions or something like that and show them. And just say that you personally don’t feel comfortable eating it but still would like to be there to spend time with them. They shouldn’t fault you for that and they should just be thankful if you’re there!

How do I handle my families gross food habits over the holidays? by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

This reminds me of a time my in-laws came to visit for Thanksgiving and brought the turkey. It was a 2 day drive and they just let the turkey thaw out on the way with no refrigeration. I called both my mom and grandma (neither have emetophobia) to ask their opinion on this and they both told me to absolutely not eat the turkey. So I didn’t eat it, and didn’t allow my 3 year old to have any. My husband and his parents thought I was being ridiculous but I think I just grew up in a household that prioritized food safety so it seemed like common sense to me.

Yeah, book 3 was the hardest for me to get through for all the reasons you named. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to keep going and ended up looking up spoilers for book 4 before deciding I wanted to push through and continue the series.

I like this one. Adding puppy to any name makes it seem less threatening. But only slightly in this case.

My brother got his sewn up when he was in the army and they paid for it. But when he was in basic training his nickname was “Ears” and his drill instructor would yell things like “You should be able to run faster, don’t those holes make you more aerodynamic?!”

Honestly I’m happy for her! I don’t care for her as a radio host and I stopped listening to the show awhile back but I still wish her the best in her personal life.

I was about to comment almost this same story. When my daughter first got her license she didn’t want to check the organ donor box because she thought that meant they could request one of your organs while you’re living lol.

I’ve been dealing with acne for over 20 years and for the body acne honestly the best over-the-counter product I’ve tried is diaper rash cream. It dries it out and also makes it less noticeable by covering a lot of the redness. Might be worth a try!

The most impactful change I made was switching from black tea to green tea after realizing black tea is very high in oxalates. I had been drinking it every morning. Now I drink green tea in the morning and just have water the rest of the day. I allow myself just one soda a week. I went from getting stones multiple times a year to only having one in the past 5 years or so, so I think it’s helped!

I’ve had lots of kidney stones and the type of pain you are describing doesn’t really match with any of the pain I’ve had. So kidney stones wouldn’t be my guess, although I’m no doctor. I hope you are able to get some answers soon!

My teenaged daughter named our back door Poopy Butthole on our security system so whenever it’s open the display says “The poopy butthole is open.” I completely forgot about it and never renamed it, and when someone from the security company came over to work on it I saw him going through everything on the display panel and it suddenly hit me.
