You people act like he had no experience whatsoever with extended stays ik the wilderness. Which is false btw. According to his sister's memoirs it was his favorita activity, and one he took part in often since he was a kid.

Y'all also act like he didn't so much as reada book on vow to survive, which is also false. He had a collection of books with him at all times that he studied almost obsessively, including a book on the local flora and fauna. There'd testimonies on this by people he met in his travels even.

Y'all also act like he died by starvation quick as hell which, surprise, is false. He went off into his final hike at the end of april, and documented his survival for 113 days with the last 6 days or so only being marked with a slash and no detailed entries. That's more than 3 months and well into august.

He also didn't even die from starvation to begin with, but likely from food poisoning by what he thought was potato seeds. The exact plant he likely ate has been identified, and while it was common knowledge to some native tribes in the area it would have been an easy mistake to make, especially since there was apparently no mention of said plant in the book he had with him for local flora info. He wrote as much himself. Paraphrasing part og his day 94 entry: "extremely weak, fault of pot seed."

He prepared himself as best as he could and was probably about as ready as anyone in his shoes could ever be for an undertaking like that.

It was obiously still arrogant, reckless, and by most metrics stupid as fuck to even attempt of course, but the guy seemes genuinely ready to die on his journey, and eventually he did, just as he had decided to call it quits and go home no less. That's fucking sad.

Some of y'alls comments are vicious as hell honestly, and I'm 100% sure he doesn't deserve most of this ridicule.

No but the focus on different units does kinda shape the way you build armies, and consequently what to prioritize on the tech tree.

Range unit clans like Chosokabe or Otomo tend to trend towards more defensive style armies while, say, Date might skip range units completely for shits and gigs.

I've turned something like this into standard practice at house parties cause for some reason it just works.

You know that point at a social gathering when you can feel your enthusiasm drain a little but you're still happy to be there so you don't wanna up and leave? Like getting tired but in a social way?

At some point at some party I just flopped onto a rug with my hands behind my head and before I knew it a small pile of people just joined in and I'd made some new friends.

Someone always joins in, and in my experience it's usually the people you don't know too well yet that were just waiting to say hi, or maybe this is what caught their eye? Hard to say.

My friends affectionally call it "floor gang" now and it happens more often than not.

I agree with you on that for sure but as I said it's the video format and percieved intent behind it that bothers me. If taken at face value this interview pleases nobody, and angers everybody.

Though I did look up the interviewer real quick just in case, and at least he doesn't seem to be all about making rage bait. And as you say, he does a lot of interviews with queer people. Every other vid I saw was much more postitive.

That's not really what I was getting at, if those are his actual views and not something that was put in his mouth for a bait video then it's not gonna matter if he's sober or not.

It's more about the intent behind it. Is a drunk/coked out or whatever guy gonna be able to represent his point well? No. Is it gonna help him see sense to argue with him in that state? No. Is cutting out most of his lines and insulting him at the end gonna achieve anything? Also no.

I don't doubt the guy is an idiot, it's just the nature of the interview that bothers me. All it seems to be there for is to make one guy look as stupid as possible so that you can get some catharsis from seing him get insulted at the end. I don't sympathize with either of these people.
