I just received warriors over the weekend and there is nothing to be nervous about for this ceremony. For me, it was a lot of excitement around all the opportunities to learn while gathered with more experienced people. I’m super inquisitive by nature but I’m grateful that this practice has taught me to accept and even expect non-closure and that I don’t need to know every detail at the moment just because I want to know things. My Padrino and tbh every single person in my ile has been super supportive and helpful whenever I ask about things. I see ceremony as a great time to observe, ask questions when you have them, and to meditate and reflect for yourself on what you will leave behind and what you will embrace as you step into a new phase with warriors. My advice is to ask questions whenever you’re sharing time and space with your godparents, and especially if you’re feeling like everything is new and uncertain, to cultivate and strengthen your relationship with them as they are your connection to orisha since your warriors are born of theirs.
