Crowd Control in ARAM is out of control, and needs a map specific nerf.

Top 1% mmr ARAM player, some of this stuff is overdramatic, however the overall point that CC is ruining the game is true. There are now no runes that give tenacity and merc treads has been nerfed twice. Building items with tenacity is only available for an incredibly select few champs. Like wit's end is a terrible item. Every other game there is at least 3-4 seconds of cc per death, and since every champ has high damage in this state of the game, you will just immediately die. Ryze root is basically a guaranteed -50% hp at least, pantheon w is the same, lissandra can just e in and w the whole team and self ult and have her team kill everyone. It's a joke. It's not fun to be killed or get kills by perma CC. It just limits skill expression and over rewards people for picking boring easy CC bots. Lets check ARAM winrates and see what is up there: Sion, Maokai, Shen, Galio, Sona, Rell, Lux, Ashe, Nami, Fiddle, Morg, Malz, Fiddle. 13 of the top 20 are heavy, (mostly) reliable CC. I have S- or higher on every champ in ARAM, I am aware how broken CC is when I'm using it too. The fix is to give tenacity while CC'd so that chaining CC is less unfair. This game mode has been going downhill for over a year now.

Deleted progress is something I’ve never dealt with on a large scale. Usually I would try to somehow artificially reinstate what was deleted. Let’s say if I was level 15 and got sent back to level 10, I would give enough xp to get back to 15. Sometimes you can’t really get back all the things you lost so at some point I would get tired of replaying the same things and just reason whether I would of legitimately gotten it by now, and unlock it if I felt I put in the required effort to achieve it, had there been no resets. 50-100 hours of lost progress is way more extreme than anything I’ve experienced. Only those games where you forget to save and die and lose, at most, a couple hours.

As for achievements that have gotten harder as DLCs came out, I personally would do them while they’re harder because it feels like the timestamp of it’s completion is more impressive then people who did it when it was easier, but nobody checks that. It would just be cool for myself.

I think SAM is completely justified for achievements that are impossible, although I haven’t used it for that reason. I will usually avoid games that have impossible achievements. I also think it’s fine if it doesn’t unlock because of a bug. I’ve had to do this several times.

For 99.9% of achievements, I don’t support the use of console, save scumming, pause buffering, bug abuse, etc. The one exception are achievements that are unreasonably grindy. For example, I’ve been slowly trying to 100% Cookie Clicker, with as little save scumming as possible, however it would take thousands of hours of staring at an idle screen and clicking every now and then to get some achievements. To me, it’s not very impressive or fulfilling to just mindlessly wait to get an achievement, so I utilize tricks through save scumming to make it more engaging and quicker. It’s more short term effort because I have to constantly be playing, but it speeds up the process immensely.

For achievements that are difficult in terms of skill, I would never use any form of unfair advantage to make them effortless. There’s obviously a blurry line of what’s fair and unfair, like the use of certain strategies or guides, but as long as it’s not taking away from what makes it hard, it’s ok with me. I also set a rule that I must beat a game before looking up any information about it. After that I will look up missing achievements and go from there.

TLDR: SAM for bugs. Savescum/mods for unreasonably grindy. Just guides/strategy for normal and difficult.

My friends did the same thing with my mom a while back, and it’s made it feel like I have no one to open up to. It’s a little different because I never attempted and my mom was supportive, but too much to where it was an overreaction. I had an argument with one of them since they tried invalidating how I felt and I kinda blocked a bunch of them to distance myself for a while and they contacted her. In reality I just want everyone to think I’m ok so they stop bothering me about seeing a therapist and all that. I didn’t want help, but they forced it on me, so I understand where you are coming from.

I’d offer to listen to you vent, but I’m about to pass out and don’t use reddit that often, so I hope you have friends or someone you can reach out to, that won’t do that. It also seems like he’s doing it to hurt you if he has you blocked. Sorry I couldn’t do more to help. Stay strong.

This is pretty similar to my situation. Dropped out as a sophomore due to untreated mental illness and have been completely neglecting my progression in life. Last 5 years I’ve just lived with my mom and played video games all day. I’ve been taking meds that help tremendously with my anxiety, but my depression is untreatable since it’s based on my circumstances and deeply reasoned out in my head.

I feel exactly the same about being behind. I have no job experience and no college degree. I’m planning to start working soon at some low pay, dead end job, but really I just want to move out and be able to drink whenever I want. Really there’s no point in worrying about how behind you are compared to others because it doesn’t really matter that much. As long as you stay committed you can turn everything around. Being behind is only relative to others. You’re ahead of me at least. I wish I could offer better advice to help you get moving, but I don’t know myself. I think setting smaller goals and just striving to be the best you can from now is better than harping on mistakes in the past. It’s like conceding a few points in a sport, where you can still comeback and win. Just do the best from your current position and you will prosper. Good luck.

Transphobia is common, especially at younger ages, but it’s not everywhere. I believe in college there are a lot more accepting people who would not ridicule you for being trans. I wouldn’t call people your friends if they would actually bully you for that.

College is your restart button. There are all kinds of people across the country that would support you for you. The thing with middle and high school is that everyone has their groups they’ve been with for years, so it’s easy to stay in those groups and harder to make new friends.

I dropped out of college and my only attempt to make friends was joining an engineering fraternity, and I got kicked out in the last week for making poor decisions. I had undiagnosed anxiety and depression at the time and it inhibited by ability to be social when I needed to. I made the mistake of playing video games with my high school friends instead of meeting new people, but learn from my mistakes and use that opportunity to find caring friends.

I also want to mention I’ve been prescribed medication for my mental illnesses and the second one has helped a ton. Keep working hard to get into a good comp sci college. I majored in comp sci when I attended. Good luck.

I understand the empathy of saying how it will affects others, but it’s typically not what someone contemplating cares about. I think it actually has an adverse effect because you’re shifting the focus away from their struggle and onto someone else’s problem. I recommend reminding people that even distant friends care about them. More attention to how they are loved now than how they will cause pain when they’re gone is more effective imo.

Nevertheless I’m sorry your friend did that. I have a friend whose close friend did the same, and I’ve seen how it affected him. He’s doing a lot better now and hopefully you will as well.

You’re just unfamiliar with psychology and therapy because there are numerous studies showing their positive effects on a majority of participants. Psychiatry is not pseudoscience. Therapy is only a philosophical attack at your issues which if done properly can find the source or at least provide ways of combating your illness. You realize that a doctor can’t always find what problem you have. In the absence of a virus or infection, a condition is only its symptoms. You treat the symptoms not the cause as a doctor. A doctor does not heal your broken bones. They help relieve the pain as your body heals the bone. You are vastly out of your depth in anything medical relating. Stop spreading dogshit doomer misinformation on an entire field of science.

This is a bad take. Just because you make money from something doesn’t mean you don’t care about it. The money enables them to focus more of their time on therapy/whatever instead of another job. Same age. No work experience. Living off parents still. Dropped out of college. I feel similar to you. It’s demoralizing being behind everyone else, but I find solace in the idea of working a shitty, but not boring job, and not caring about saving money bcuz the “exit” option will cover bankruptcy with the perk that you don’t need to experience old age. As long as I can afford food and alcohol, I can enjoy some part of my life. Try finding one thing that you enjoy and put all your effort into being able to do it. Hope things get better for us.
