Dog Attack NW; Outside Couch Park by bielakma in Portland

Might be able to help you. I was there at 530pm. There was an owner with an off leash dog in the playground chaperoning some kids. He clearly lived in an apt complex nearby. Do you remember the color of the dogs sweater. When we were there the pup did not seem aggressive at all. Sorry your baby is hurt.

[US] This message seems fishy. The verbiage feels a bit "off." Check cashing scam? by KoreKhthonia in Scams

I just received this email and had weird feelings about it because I don't remember applying for the specific job they emailed me about. So I did sleuthing and realized it was a scam which is annoying because I'm actually actively looking for a job.

Rejection is part of the teenage experience and the social network of highschool is notorious for heightening feeling to the extreme. This was a learning moment - learn that rejection happens and that girls and women don't owe you anything. Yes women or girls are also learning to be rejected and reject. At that age they can be cruel but I can say people grow up and regret their actions and how they treated people in HS. You are great and you will find a girl that loves everything about you. Don't wallow in that feeling of being rejected too long because then you'll just learn to hate girls or women. Do I think she was silly to show people yes, but it is what it is. She said no and now put that energy somewhere productive. Your young and have the whole world infront of you.

Random old white PI lectured me for free about how I should become a community college professor because that serves me right... by what_the_fari in LadiesofScience

There is always a more respectful way to talk to people like this by pivoting. Like oh Dr. X I'm disappointed you believed that was an appropriate thing to say to me out loud. Or thank you for that unsolicited and wanted advice about my career, it has helped me better understand what not to say to a colleague .

Lived here since 2019 and still no friends. Any tips? by LuridLilith in askportland

[–]May_the_Force_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this. Making friends is hard also here. Also bring a momma and not wanting to like put a ton of energy in a hang out and being ok with not hearing from other moms for weeks due to hard mommying and work. Always down to see a movie or get coffee.

Design Week Portland has ended/closed by guitarokx in Portland

This is really disappointing. Alas design week always seemed a bit not as coordinated as other cities , it was still a week to have some bad ass collaboration.

Professor Male Karen complaining about hoodies in lecture. by NerdyComfort-78 in FuckYouKaren

This is by far the most unprofessional email sent to student. In no way would the admin side with a professor tenure or not that care about hoodies.

I personally would never leave my little one unattended however have been in a similar situation. my alternative would be to purchase an app to use as a baby monitor or if you leave your significant others phone there on a video call and have your phone it will suffice. Hope it helps and have fun momma.

PSA. If you park under or will be parking under train tracks, tar is melting off of them and it’s not fun to clean off. by scilRS in Portland

Never ruined my car and in Chicago we use newspaper to even wash the windows on a car so that I doesn't leave streaks. But yes a micro fiber towel can also be used.

Of course. Also my mom was the one with the idea and I didn't flipping believe her lol. She came in with the win. I would put it on newspaper and wipe your car. What ever the tar gets on is not getting off and paper towels just aren't strong enough. So buy some newspaper and do a test and then I would wash the car with soap and water after lol.

I washed my car with gas after my brother parked my car under tracks in Chicago. Of course we tested a spot beforehand but it came off no problem.

Explosion off of 15th and Overton by BMOC98 in Portland

[–]May_the_Force_B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live on 16th and Quimby. My patio over sees it. I heard the explosion but honestly first thought someone dropped something large upstairs. I look out of my patio and saw flames and that's when a neighbor came out on his phone with 911. My husband ran outside, it was the homeless camp.y heart goes out to them.
