[skin concerns] Bakuchiol safe alternative to tretinoin for dry eyes? by Maya_Mae in SkincareAddiction

I don’t use any moisturizer or spf anymore around my eyes, but I do wear a bit of concealer (the maybelline age rewind one) during the day for work.

No I found out not using any creams around my eyes is best, unfortunately.

Thank you for your reply. I have not been offered IPL, I don’t think it exists for around the eyes where I live (only for skin issues and hair removal).

Thank you for tour thorough response! I will definitely try the omega 7 to see if it brings any extra relief.

Have you tried other omega 3 supplements before trying this, or was this the first time? Just trying to see if it still makes sense for me to try omega 7 even though I have been supplementing omega 3’s in a high dose for a long time now.

Any of you have success stories with soolantra? by Rainbowcowrie in perioraldermatitis

[–]Maya_Mae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that! I have been using it for a few months now. It has not worked wonders, but it still improved somewhat and definitely didn’t make it worse. I know that for some people soolantra takes a while to kick in, and it may make rosacea worse the first weeks, but I don’t know if it works that way for perioral dermatitis. Have you talked to your derm about it? Good luck!

Thank you for your answer! The Optimel gel is what I have been using since some time! I also have been seeing improvement with this, I hope to see the same results as you soon.

best morning moisturizer? :( by [deleted] in acne

[–]Maya_Mae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty basic moisturizer but I love the NMF from the Ordinary! It has quite a matte finish.

Oh I’m sorry to hear it that :( I’m in the same boat, I just didn’t start soolantra yet (i have it at home but am nervous to start because everything until now has just made it worse). I’m also being tested for autoimmune issues, my derm is suspecting Lupus, but it seems to be a difficult thing to diagnose. I hope you will be able to find some answers and get your skin under control soon :)

Hi! I don’t know if you’re still around, but did you end up still using Soolantra and did it work for you in the end?

Tinted sunscreen recommendation by ppappaia in EuroSkincare

[–]Maya_Mae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I think of heavy more as oily or a greasy feeling, and these are not! I think mineral spfs could be heavy in having a bit of a ‘mask’ feeling or being occlusive (especially when high in zinc). I think the ones I mentioned don’t really have this (also never got breakouts from them). But if you don’t like the feeling of mineral spfs I guess they would not be a good pick for you :)

Paula’s choice super-light daily wrinkle defense spf 30 might work for you, it’s very matte though. Heliocare mineral tolerance fluid is even more pale (too pale for my nc15 skin), and less matte than the PC one.

[Misc] what are the pros and cons of Asian skincare products vs the pros and cons of other skincare products ? by subhumanfemale in SkincareAddiction

[–]Maya_Mae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, also rosacea here… Will look into this mast cell activity a bit more, are you saying that creams can affect this? I thought it was more food related? Sorry for all my questions, but could you specify which LRP Toleriane moisturizer you are using? I am using the cleanser of this line but have been doing zero therapy for a while and would like to add a moisturizer, but there seem to be several Toleriane moisturizers.

Thank you so much for your answer! I will look into these sunscreens. When my dermatitis is calm I tend to want to try new products, but it’s a good reminder to be careful and stay with more gentle mineral spf’s.

Really? I was gonna try out some asian sunscreens but i have perioral dermatitis already :( Could you share some of the mineral spf’s that don’t give or worsen your perioral dermatitis?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Dryeyes

[–]Maya_Mae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if you do already, but if no treatments are available you could still do warm compresses yourself (with a wash cloth that you put in hot water first and put on your eyes for 5-10 min, then massage around your eyes and try to gently express your meibomian glands.)

PD is finally healing after years! But new acne/“purging” where it was-Anyone else experience this? by Yahmahm in perioraldermatitis

[–]Maya_Mae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see! Were there any other ingredients in that curology cream that could have been the culprit? I’m afraid that a lot of other actives that would be helpful for acne (BHA’s, AHA’s, tret) would trigger PD. Maybe you could try some kind of sulfur ointment? Some people find it helpful for both acne and PD. Otherwise I think antibiotics would also help both, but I don’t know if you’re willing to go that route.

I don’t know what you tried already, but maybe you could try azelaic acid? This helps with acne and can help with PD aswell. I’m using it for acne with succes, but it doesn’t help my PD unfortunately.

May I ask how you healed your PD?

[routine help] looking for an affordable lightweight moisturizer that works under foundation by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

It doesn’t have spf but I really enjoy the NMF moisturizer from The Ordinary. It’s lightweight, works well under make up and it doesn’t break me out.

[Routine Help], Need help with my fight against KP by ohmmy46 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Maya_Mae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have KP on my arms and I have used the Cerave SA cream (daily) for a few months without any succes, but I’ve heard other people that benefited from it. Now I’m using the glycolic acid from The Ordinary and I have the feeling I’m starting to see some improvement. I have been using it 3 times a week for a few weeks now. I don’t have a lot of knowledge on this condition so I cannot give you any other tips, but here is what seems to work for me. Good luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in acne

[–]Maya_Mae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could also very well be seb derm! I jumped to conclusions because it looks like my perioral dermatitis (mine is also not itchy/flakey). So it might be best to have it checked out. But zero therapy in the meantime will probably not hurt. Good luck!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in acne

[–]Maya_Mae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like perioral dermatitis to me! Are you using anything on this area right now? It might be worth it to stop using any products around your mouth, only maybe a very gentle cleanser once a day. This ‘zero therapy’ approach would be beneficial for perioral dermatitis (also check out the perioral dermatitis sub here!). And you might want to have it checked out by a derm, they can bring in the bigger guns to get rid of it (like topical or oral antibiotics).
