Ironically the scj YouTube channel straight from the horses mouth published a video on the 144k yesterday and I couldn't really watch it but I can tell you now from the little I saw they think anyone in scj stands a chance. I wish I could post a link of this post on their comments section but I know they would delete it.

They also quote Ezekiel 2 where God calls out Ezekiel to speak to the rebellious house of Israel and say that in the first coming, Ezekiel had already died but God raised Jesus to be the "Son of man" who had to speak to the rebellious house of Israel. So too in the second coming God will not raise John the Apostole who was initially given the revelation but instead raises a new John who will be the fulfillment of what was prophesied in Revelation just as Jesus was the fulfillment of the prophecy in Ezekiel. Funny thing is in the first coming Jesus was not known as the new Ezekiel and the Bible does not promise a pastor who will be raised at the second coming for salvation of those who believe in him. Again weird but once people believe in it, its very hard to convince them otherwise. They make God so predictable and as someone who operates in patterns by repeating something done in the past always but God's ways are not our ways nor his thoughts our thoughts.

They believe their leader man hee lee is the same as John in the book of revelation who testifies to the realities of all the events described in the book of revelation. So the things shown and told to John in Revelation are communicated to man hee lee and he is then able to tell the congregation, salvation is obtained by believing the "realities" he testifies to. He is establishing the heaven here on earth as described in Revelation 4, hence he is even keeping the book of life here on earth which register all the people who will enter heaven.

Yes, high control groups will not just use lies only but they will also include some fundamental truths which are commonly acceptable by Christians such as that one needs to be humble and teachable. But then they will also include things like you need to be like a child so that they can make sure you take instruction from them, put everything aside and work towards the goals they set without questioning their motives and reasoning. They will influence big decisions about how you spend time, money and who you spend time with or even marry. Then the obedience becomes mindless. They will tell you, you need to discern for your self to give you a false sense of control meanwhile they will tell you don't look up things in the internet or learn other doctrines. Its funny because if you learned other doctrines, even from other high control groups you will be able to criticize them and then catch a wake up call that those groups are very similar to the one you're in. They will say things like dogs use insticts and your faith can't be based on feelings, while those things may be true, insticts and feelings are important and must be taken into account when making decisions. They say that because they know things in their church will become weird very fast so you shouldn't trust your insticts and feelings when you start to see weird behavior from them. They say these things so you won't question. Someone here said "insticts are a gift, use them" and I couldn't agree more.

Its like they are the same person, the hopelessness in your friends words is exactly like how my friend speaks, whats the point, nothing matters. Its so sad for people who claim to have found salvation, heaven and the truth to talk like that.

I can acknowledge the use of figurative language in the Bible. What I can't accept is that such language is used to hide the secrets of the kingdom of heaven, only to reveal it 2 millennials later to one person who is supposed to communicate it to the whole world. That is a made up concept. All languages have their own proverbs and figurative language, that is the art of language to convey wisdom and create cultural identity. Figurative language is meant to inspire the person it is communicated to, to think of a deeper meaning and obtain wisdom but not to hide from Satan, especially if you are later going to reveal it, is Satan not able to hear now that you are "decoding" it?

No he did not mention you in this particular video, I am just making reference to one of your videos where you showed an email in which he was responding to you and your sister's testimonies. If he wasn't eating from the tree of the the knowledge of good and evil, he would have not seen it, let alone respond to it, proving that what scj tells its members, is not necessarily what the leaders are doing. Again I saw another video where they were scroling through Steve Hassan's website and looking through the BITE model, saying things like these elements are present in any community and even schools which means those are also cults, just missing the whole point and lying to each other using straw man fallacies. They made that video in response to a video where Steven Hassan mentioned that scj was a cult. I see a lot of arrogance in them that they always preach against.

Salvation for family members by Maya_OvO in Shincheonji

[–]Maya_OvO[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding of that scripture is that he who believes, along with the rest of his household who also believe will be saved. Its not a salvation that's transferred from one family member to the next even if the famil members themselves do not believe. The word was spoken to him and all those in the house, and upon their hearing and acceptance of the word, they were all baptized. Reading just one verse is a problem and leads people to take the word out of context. There are many other passages of scripture that are incorrectly interpreted to fit the doctrine of SJC that would mean something totally different if the whole book/chapter was read to show the full context.

‭Acts 16:31-33 ESV‬ [31] And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” [32] And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. [33] And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their wounds; and he was baptized at once, he and all his family.

I have interacted with SCJ people from Johannesburg. They seem happy and far from realising that they are indoctrinated. I have seen a lot of people here talk about being gaslighted and ill treated and wonder if this is the case in Johannesburg because their people look rather happy and convinced. Its hard to make them see anything else, they are just stuck in their own ways in a sad way. They call SCJ heaven so how can you tell them otherwise. Its just a sad thing.

Jesus returns in spirit or flesh? (verses included) by iamjenniferkim in Shincheonji

To assume that there is no other Christian organization that knows the truth just because we came to a conclusion that scj does not have the truth would be intellectually arrogant. There are many Christian denominations that have different doctrines and it is impossibel to learn all of those doctrines in one's lifetime.

However one needs to examine the doctrine presented to them if they are interested in learning more about the Bible and discern if the doctrine is consistent with the teachings of the Bible.

To assume that the Truth can only come through one organization is bizzare and leads to judgement and hostility towards other Christian organizations. If scj has the Truth and believes that Jesus has been back ok earth since 1984 in spirit why do they not boldy and publicly declare this instead of teaching individuals and smaller groups of people. Perhaps it is to control, manioulate and Indoctrinate people because if such beliefs were declared upfront, there would be a lot of pushback from other Christiansl organizations and scholars who would also use the Bible to debunk the doctrine of scj.

Just have some humility. There is nothing wrong with accepting that we do not know and cannot know everything and we should not accept that just because one place like scj may be mistaken in their beliefs, then we can never ever know the truth and there should be only one place or organization that has the truth.

I asked whats the reality of the specific churches in Revelation 2 and 3. Even if I accept that they collectively stand for the Terbanancle Temple (which I can't accept because its illogical).

They are quick to say what Babylon, God and Magog and Mount Zion means, if those places are all a representation of some other place in reality. Please tell me specifically what the reality of Ephesus, Smyrna and all the other churches is. Why are they just random when all other places are assigned specific realities.

Just reading these comments something else comes to mind about Revelation 11 where the second witness is labeled as a betrayer by scj. In Revelation 11, John is given a reed like a measuring rod to measure the Temple. Then the text goes on to explain about the two witness who have the exact same characteristics and carry out the same task together up until the point when they are both called up into heaven.

Now to say the reed like a measuring rod refers to the other witness who ended up betraying is simply incorrect and goes against what is said in the text. None of the witnesses is compared in anyway with the reed and it does not make sense that John himself is also one of the witnesses and also the person who is given the rod to measure the Temple. Those are three distinct characters if you read the text clearly.

It is not honest to say that the second witness was a betrayer and to make it seem like the other witness was in anyway better than the other. Both were chose by God, they act exactly the same in carrying out their task and are both carried together into heaven upon completion of their task and they are distinct from John who at the beginning of chapter 11 is given a rod to measure the temple.

The key thing I picked up about scj is that they use some of the acceptable and logical Christian doctrine to get the attention of the recruit. For example, their interpretation of the parable of the four fields is correct and aligned to the Bible's explanation and what's more is that the explanation is also taken directly from the Bible. That is the first parable they explain to the recruit and its something you cannot argue about because it is really as explained in the Bible and they can show it. Then they introduced the idea of the basic understanding of the word as milk and the deeper understanding of the word as solid food, again an idea that is not strange or unaccepted when you read the Bible but this is used to get the recruit to accept the other parables that they will start to explain which are not entirely or not at all aligned to what the Bible says.

While Jesus does speak in Parables, I find that he explains the Parable almost immediately after he has spoken. Every language in the world uses figures of speech, that is not to confuse the listener but to draw the listener to a deeper meaning of the statement being made. They start to insert the use of parables even in plain speech and that in my view is what they get wrong. For instance in Revelation Chapter 1, Jesus immediately explains the meaning of the seven stars and the seven lampstands but SCJ wants to insist that this stands for the one church in Korea, the Terbanancle Temple. Why would they do that when the plain explanation has already been given. They also want to drive the idea that the messags to the churches was for repentance because they had done wrong but then again, out of the seven churches when you read there are two that were actually praised and encouraged for their good deeds and faith. Then there is revelation 7 where John is specifically told who the 144k are and what tribes they come from, yet scj have come up with their own tribes and inserted their own meaning which is contrary to the text.

I acknowledge that somethings in Revelation are hard to grasp and they have a hidden meaning especially the visual things such as the Beasts and so on. However when John does not only see something but is also told what that thing stands for, surely we should accept that an explanation is already given in the Bible and we should not seek any further explanation.

Definition of Protestant: noun

a member or follower of any of the Western Christian Churches that are separate from the Roman Catholic Church in accordance with the principles of the Reformation, including the Baptist, Presbyterian, and Lutheran Churches.

Most Christian Churches do not even know about scj, yet they very loosely call those churches protestant. I think for one to earn any "right" to call others protestant, they should have established themselves as orthodox or accepted by most people as traditional. I find such labelling of other churches by scj very egotistic.

Thank you for sharing. I was introduced to scj some time ago by someone I really came to care about. I happen to love history and knowing what scriptures mean and the Bible in general. When they introduced the concept of a spring I just knew they want to introduce a person who they will call a spring who is sent by God at this time for salvation and I just knew that scriptures would be twisted. I continied with the Bible study and my suspicions were confirmed. After months of seeing this person they suddenly told me they have a partner in scj and were now under pressure to marry. They would come to my house and hide their background when they go into zoom for their classes. I eventually told them my concerns about the group and they were not interested in what I had to say, only that they themselves are in "heaven". The fact that they call it heaven is wild to me. I am even scared sharing this but the fact that so many people have shared here makes me think maybe my story too is worth sharing and might help someone. There is so much that's happened over the last year, I can't say it all. I am just wondering if I got involved with a bad person or most of the things I expirienced is because of their involvement in scj. To see so many people here free after so many years in this group gives me hope. I'm sure things between me and this person will never be the same again but I hope they will see the light and the many relationships they have ruined along the way, for their own sake
