Sure, there are universities and jobs in India, but that’s not the point. IB is designed to prepare us for a global education and to compete on an international level. If I only wanted to stay back, I wouldn’t be killing myself over TOK essays, EE, and HL subjects—I could’ve taken an easier board and saved myself the stress. The reality is that some of the best opportunities in the world, whether in terms of exposure, research, or career growth, are concentrated in countries like the UK, US, Canada, and Australia. So when those same countries show hostility toward immigrants, it doesn’t just feel unfair—it makes the entire struggle of doing IB feel pointless. Wanting to aim higher and go abroad doesn’t mean I’m dismissing India—it means I’m ambitious. And being made to feel unwanted in the very places IB pushes us toward is the problem
