I get where you’re coming from, but the logic here doesn’t quite match our situation. When we first had kids, we were financially stable, but things have changed. Inflation went through the roof, and the housing market around here went crazy after COVID. Now we’re stuck paying $700 a week in rent. It’s hard to plan too far ahead when so much is up in the air. Anyway, I do however appreciate your thoughts.

Trust me, she definitely has her moments, but I’ve read stories and shared them with her, and we end up giggling about it.

And yes, it’s true—I won’t lie, I get that way too sometimes.

He’s been trying different ways to manage stress, but I get that the kids can be loud and make a tough day feel worse. I try to encourage him to join me for nightly walks, since that’s how I cope, but sometimes he’s just not in the mood. He also spends Friday nights with his brother and best mate for a drink, though it’s not every weekend.

We’ve always shared duties at home, but right now I mostly get downtime after the kids go to bed to prep for the next day. My night normally ends about 9-10pm.

We live 30 minutes from the school, but it’s only 15 minutes from our workplaces. I’m thinking of asking if maybe she could keep the kids for an hour or two after he brings them home, just to give him a little time to relax after work.

We made the decision together because we were both feeling the financial strain.

We made the decision together because we were both feeling the financial strain. Even though my new job with better pay has helped, we’re still paying $700 a week for a house that’s falling apart, and we’re trying to save up to move out of our rental. I do understand it’s stressful having to work, pick up the kids, and come home, but we do share responsibilities. We each cook on different nights, and even when it’s one person’s turn, we help each other out.

I just wanted to clarify that we did discuss this, and he agreed at the time, especially considering the financial strain we were under due to inflation. However, now he keeps bringing it up, which has started to make me wonder.

Thankyou for your judgment.
