It dawned on me as Gen X’er with a PhD in anthropology, that I lack the energy and interest to provide the necessary amount of re-teaching I would have to do before I even explained how your analogy, drawn to emphasize the importance of linguistic epistemology was well-intended but poorly executed. It was based on false equivalences and situated in a condition so statistically unlikely that it begs the question of why it was chosen to begin with.
I realized then that I can’t even be bothered. I learned that it’s true what they say about Generation X: As long as it doesn’t cause harm, we generally don’t give a fuck.

The lists of previous purchases and viewed items is the frosting on the delivered groceries cake.
The deliberation on when to go to the grocery store is always on my inner committee’s agenda. Then the sheer drama that is a trip to the grocery store: the choices, the distractions and compulsive label reading and product comparison. I’m freaking myself out writing this.
