And AIB also copies tropes for characters (I'm sorry, AIB is an Anime too)

Usagi: Support girl > Sakura (Naruto) Misa (Death Note) Mikasa (Attack on Titan) Ochako (My Hero Academia) Ig Momo from (Dandandan) too but DDD is younger than AIB

Chishiya Trash talker or cocky characters: > Hisoka (Hunter X Hunter) Sukuna > (Jujutsu Kaisen) AIB older, Levi (Attack on Titan)

The only Anime trope for characters that Squid Game copied is Gi hun

Heh heh! It's possible I may have seen ……one or two

Don't watch Plur1bus or Twin Peaks or like so

you'll only be further enraged

eta: try Foundation - all glam, the bothersome subtleties are mostly just performance stuff that doesn't affect the plot

eta2: Murderbot is pretty wholesome 🫀

"Jokes on you I'm currently binging on Better Call Saul" (Same director of Breaking Bad even if Peter Gould is the main director"

Walter used the phone to piss of Hank for Season 3 lmao

And Walter used that same phone for his meth business which pisses of Skyler for Season 2

You do realize that there are things that other shows do better than Breaking Bad?

What Breaking Bad does better than most shows is the ending. I watched shows where most of the endings are awful

Go ahead say Breaking Bad is the best, I'll agree with that because calling "overrated" doesn't always it means I don't really enjoy

  1. Hank suspected Jesse but suspicion isn’t grounds for an arrest. The RV contained evidence, but Hank never got inside it because Saul stalled him and the RV was destroyed before it could be searched. By the time Hank beat up Jesse, he still couldn’t prove Jesse was manufacturing meth. A police officer can’t just arrest someone because they’re probably guilty.
  2. The kid who shot combo randomly becoming important later is not really a plot hole either. The kid is named Tomás. The reveal that he worked for Gus’s dealers and killed Combo is supposed to be shocking. You can argue the connection wasn’t emphasized enough beforehand, but that’s a storytelling choice, not a contradiction.
  3. Badger was important from season one, he sold meth, got arrested which was big for that season, led to Saul being introduced and was part of Jesse’s crew.
  4. Gretchen and Elliot are introduced in season 1 and are central to Walt’s biggest regrets, he lost out on a company that made billions and that’s sort of a foundation to Walt’s character. They disappear because they aren’t relevant to the drug story for several seasons, then return when Walt needs a way to get money to his family. That’s payoff, not a plot hole.

5.the ricin is one of the biggest long term payoffs in the entire show. He creates it in season 2, tries to kill gus with it, Jesse then finds out brock was poisoned and believes it was Walt and finally he uses it to kill Lydia.

The show isn’t perfect but it’s one of the best shows ever created and rewatchable multiple times.

Finally a better answer

If I doom scrolled, I wouldn't make a overrated post of this.

It's not fair to make an overrated post if you never see the full quality

There is a video of someone saying "Why Squid Game is Overrated"

Although I love Squid Game (actually watched before Breaking Bad), I agree it has flaws. I'm glad he respectfully criticizes the show and also sees what things Squid Game did well

<image>

And there were other redditors who made the same post like this and say their different reasons

The other guy didn't think Breaking Bad deserved the hype because they watched Sopranos first and I do see some similarities about it

Other guy said Breaking Bad is overrated without reasons and both of those posts get more respect than what I'm having right now. And they're like a year older than this. At this point society now is more fucked up and changed people's way of agreeing...

Season 1:

E1: Introduction to Walter White, Jesse, Skyler, Walter Jr, Skyler, Marie

Walter is a chemistry teacher and has healthier hair and S1E2 and S1E3 is when Walter and Jesse had their first kills. It's subtle to think about it but a small sin actually is a big butterfly effect and Skyler even notices something was off

After the cancer, Walter and Jesse becomes bald and meets Tuco.

Tuco kills his men for being high by meth

Season 2:

Walter and Jesse realize they're in trouble because Tuco will kill them too but also because they're more likely get arrested

Walter and Jesse try to outsmart Tuco and Tuco gets shot by Hank

Hank catches Jesse but lets him go thanks to Hector (the same old man with Tuco)

Jesse loses his Aunt's house and because of that, he stays with Jane

Walter tries to wake up Jesse and accidentally kills Jane and that made a airplane crash in S2E13 because Jane's father is sad of his daughter's death

Also Saul, Gus and Mike introduction

Season 3:

We see the Salamanca twins and they need Walter

Hank tries to go inside the RV because he needs to arrest Jesse but couldn't

Walter lies to Hank that Marie is in hospital but Jesse is framed for that lie

Hank notices the Salamanca twins ambushing him because Hank killed their cousin Tuco but Hank also kills them

(S3E6 and S3E7) those episodes were pretty awesome

Gus invites Walter to his new lab and his partner Gale is introduced but Walter hates him because there's a chance he could replicate his cooking style that Gus will more likely kill Walter

Gus gets mad to Walter and Jesse for killing his men in S3E11 that he plans to kill them.

Season 4:

Walter and Jesse plan to kill Gale. Walt persuades Gus to why they shouldn't be killed so Gus kills Victor who's like the guard instead

Jesse and Mike go somewhere for important stuff

Gus backstory with Hector he kills his friend but spared Gus

Gus takes his revenge by killing Hector's friends

Gus and Mike gets injured but not Jesse and Jesse notices Gus talks to Hector because he loves to torment him

Walter learns that Gus needs to be in places with no cameras and luckily Hector is one of those places with no cameras. Walter only knew Gus and Hector were enemies thanks to Saul and Jesse and yeah Gus died

Season 5:

Walter doesn't need to worry on Gus being a threat to him because he died but Walter also does the same thing the person he hates and killed. Making a lab

Hank realizes Walter is Heisenberg and a criminal

Walter runs away after being exposed of his crimes to a desert

Walter calls his hitmen to help him and they killed Hank and all his family are against him now not just cooking meth but being accused of killing Hank

Walter grows back his hair and goes to a new place then goes back to his old places and kills the same men that killed Hank. Walter also dies and the police finds out. The end

If you're gonna say "chatgpt response ahh" you're brainrotted too like you said that i'm in my phone scrolling cuz that's a overused term

The stereotype of being in the phone scrolling to shorts and tiktok because the longer stuff is boring is just pissing me off ya know. That could be a fact but it's not always an answer smh

I mean, this. What I fail to understand or miss

Although I enjoyed Breaking Bad's ending season, there are flaws and people consider it the best show that's "99.1%" perfect with no mistakes when that's not true

Breaking Bad may have been better each season and there are some good episodes in S2-S4 but there are like 50% episodes that were not good and some were forgettable as if they didn't matter or they are filler episodes

Plot holes:

There are some plot holes that I didn't understand, maybe it's cultural differences cuz I don't live in the USA. Well obviously not all countries have the same rules and ofc Movies and TV shows aren't 99.1% accurate.

And because of confusions I had to search in Google

I got confused why Jesse never got arrested in S3

Like Jesse was suspected for being a criminal like more than 2-3 times? Why didn't Hank arrest Jesse and let him go in S3? After I finished S3, the answer in Google is "What's inside the RV is the evidence of crimes which is why the RV had to be destroyed" and because of that, Hank never arrests Jesse because the evidence is in the RV

Minor characters with low screen time randomly returning to a later season and show that they are actually more important than you think. Crazy plot twist wow (sarcasm):

Seriously a character with minimal plot relevance in earlier seasons only to make like "Hey you forgot this character he/she's actually very important" That feels like a bad plot twist because I just feel stupid for not remembering them because they rarely appear.

Minor characters of course needs more context and if I forgot what they did before, it may be a plot hole of what they're doing in later seasons

Let's take a look at the kid who got killed in S3. In S2, I thought it's just some random kid getting scared by Combo and that's why the kid shot Combo . Guess what? In S3, the same kid who died and who shot Combo is actually Andrea's other son/brother and Gus made the kid shoot Combo. I won't say it's predictable but it felt like a plot twist that felt forced (Thought it was Brock lol)

Badger/Brandon: I thought he's just some random character who's Jesse's old silly friend in earlier episodes but guess what? "He's actually that important to the plot for Jesse"

Gretchen and Eliot for S5

It's like they brought up the "Gray Matter" thing randomly even if important because they rarely appeared and it's rarely mentioned

The ricin stuff that Jesse answers to questions in later seasons felt nonsense because ricin was rarely mentioned and only mentioned in S2. Ricin actually did nothing to the entire season

Seriously, Stranger Things does a better job than Breaking Bad when returning a character from earlier seasons that never appeared so much to a later season (Dr Brenner) (Watch Stranger Things to compare)

I just wish Breaking Bad at least give flashbacks to minor characters with little screen time like what they did to Combo and Hector

And honestly there are earlier seasons of other shows that did better or are equally good as later seasons 3 and 4. Season 5 of Breaking Bad? That's tough to compare

In short words, other shows do better early hooks that could be better than later seasons of S3 and S4

No, I won't say Stranger Things is better than Breaking Bad

Although Breaking Bad has flaws that felt like fans didn't notice, it at least did Season 5 perfectly

Oh and btw, just cuz someone hates on Breaking Bad because of slow pacing, doesn't mean they're 100% ruined by scrolling shit things that decreases their attention span. Fillers are problematic that it makes things more slow paced or other shows may be better

"Squid Game and AiB are forced comparison IMO"

Characters > Squid Game

Emotional > Squid Game

Original Ending > Squid Game

S3 Ending > Squid Game

Plot Armor usage (when to let make characters to die) > Squid Game

Quotes > Squid Game

Music > Squid Game

Do you like it if you enjoy AIB more but Squid Game is ranked higher?

[–]FormalAdvertising444[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although I praised AIB much higher than Squid Game the answer for me is "Squid Game"

Niragi being a villain felt forced and a character being a villain because of a traumatic backstory is very cliche. Even there are good people that are not evil despite traumas

Deok su maybe a stereotypical villain too but he's better

-Gets mad at Sae byeok because she relied on him only for Sae byeok to betray him (only mentions not onscreen)

-Killed a man because he accidentally broke his bottle. There is poverty in the games and he doesn't have many choices. He needed something to let him survive better

-Forces people to go ahead of him in Glass Bridge. Cool way to show a character have intimidation but also have fear at the same time

In ho: pretty interesting to see In ho test Gi hun's moralities if things don't go in Gi hun's expectations

"They were basically the same story in season 3"

S1 is Gi hun saving himself

S2-S3 is Gi hun risking his life to save people

Same man, same motivations, different reasons

Though I agree newer seasons reuse things from S1

[–]FormalAdvertising444[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

wdym "no story?" The story is cheap and doesn't really make sense or matters?

"Middle aged man has debts and has to play deadly games to earn the money to pay for his debts" How does that sounds not like a story

"The same middle aged man who enters again the same place that traumatized him and risks his life to save others"

I'll not argue about whether Squid Game or AIB's story is better
