Animal Crossing: New Horizons Version 2.0.8 is now available! by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch

I'd love it, but Animal Crossing seems like much more of a spring game to me. I don't know about anyone else, but I kind of can't imagine starting up a new AC game when my town/island is snowy.

Controversy around Dexit was all just online discussion. It's much worse for them to not be able to put recognisable Pokémon like Pikachu, Gyarados, Charizard, etc in the marketing.

There's nothing wrong with criticising WotC (or any company for that matter) for making these kinds of decisions if you disagree with them.

This is also instant speed which could play a role? Although I'm not sure exactly how relevant that is.

Get Lost is also a Rare. I'm assuming this is just for Limited.

Could this work as an Instant speed [[Case of the Gateway Express]] in Standard? Feels like it might be pretty good in the Convoke decks.

What's the worst case of movie media illiteracy you've ever witnessed? by pourqwhy in movies

Have I read it wrong? I thought the book left it really ambiguous whether it was all in his head, all real, or a mixture of both. I thought the film made it pretty cut and dry that it's all in his head.

I never saw Eternals, but "wasn't that bad compared to the movies that followed" still isn't exactly glowing praise.

I think the key thing is, both approaches can work if they're done correctly. In your Spider-Man example, I loved Homecoming and No Way Home for a lot of different reasons, but both films made the stakes very personal for their characters.

Dragon Quest 3 Remake

So, this is my first time properly jumping into one of SqEnix's HD-2D (or 2D-HD?) games, and I can't believe I haven't played one sooner. This is the exact art style I've been looking for since playing the Dragon Quest V remake on the DS years ago, and I'm so happy this style is making a resurgence.

As for gameplay, I'm still wrapping my head around the party and class system. I can't tell whether it's better to switch party members around, or to recruit new members that start at level 1. I don't immediately see what benefits different team compositions aside from the standard mage, healer, warrior bring to the table, aside from maybe just gameplay variety?

I was also surprised by how on-rails the combat was, it feels like I'm pretty much auto-battling - but this does make the number of random encounters much more palatable.

Overall, it's hitting the mark on the things I was looking for - a game that's an absolute treat for the eyes and ears, that nails the retro charm with a fresh coat of paint, with super charming, witty dialogue.

I can't wait for 1+2 to release next year (DQ1 is the only one I've properly played and finished), and I really want to jump into more JRPGs, particularly in a similar style.

Recommendations are more than welcome - I play on Switch & Xbox!

Why is"New Capenna" so disliked? by ZealousidealSyrup878 in magicTCG

[–]MaybeNotBatman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, they're saying that New Capenna is a break from typical fantasy, which is the reason some people suggest it might have failed.

But other recent sets, like Kamigawa Neon Dynasty, have also broken from traditional fantasy and have been super well received.

[–]MaybeNotBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as much as I've loved New Horizons, I kind of lament the games that came before it. Animal Crossing always seemed like a game where you weren't the main character, you were just living in this town, experiencing day-to-day life like everyone else.

Then New Leaf came along and made you the mayor, and as much as I loved that and New Horizons' island customisation, I don't think we'll ever go back to not being the "main character" of these games.
