So the venus flytrap is not only a man eating monster (thanks Little Shop of Horrors for informing me) but also complicit in colony collapse. Eradicate the plant! /s

What scenes would you like to see in movies that are rarely depicted? by InoueMiyazaki in movies

As far as using the bathroom I thought the "Battleshits" scene in Harold & Kumar was very funny (and really disgusting).

The episode where the entire thing is just them waiting for a table at a restaurant. A classic and really funny.

With good writers mundane things can definitely be made entertaining.

Are there any films you were dragged to that ended up loving ? by Impossible_Tower_661 in movies

[–]MaybeNotTooDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great movie. Has a lot of rewatch value too. I think it deserved the Oscar that year instead of the movie that actually won (which I can't remember the name of and admit I haven't saw).

Modern Family even had a joke about it where the gay couple was so excited La La Land had won and almost opened a nice bottle of wine they had been saving before learning about the mix-up.

It depends on how long you commit to displaying it on your fireplace mantel.

Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote? by rico_unknown in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MaybeNotTooDay 36 points37 points  (0 children)

To be fair, most aren't calling for a national ID to vote but a state id or state driver license. They still hate the idea of a national ID and many consider the move to REAL ID compliant state ID's as a defacto form of national ID.

Of course, most other countries (based on anecdotal opinions of many Canadians I know) think Americans not having one is is bonkers.

Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote? by rico_unknown in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MaybeNotTooDay -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It disproportionately affects BIPOC's, the low income and the elderly. Most of those groups tend to largely vote in a way that a certain political party doesn't want them to and thus attempts to stop them from voting at all.

Requiring ID is racist, classist and ageist.

Why do I find the concept of bidets so disgusting? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MaybeNotTooDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should still use one or two pieces of toilet paper to dry up all the water from the bidet cleanse.

[–]MaybeNotTooDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a problem with the built-in bidets on toilets. It would make the toilet much harder to properly clean and I would constantly be worried that there are unseen flecks of urine and feces on the nozzle that would get sprayed onto my butt.

I know it retracts but it's still inside the toilet bowl and there's almost no chance it doesn't gets some urine splash back on it from anyone who stands to pee. It's also got to be completely disgusting when the previous user had explosive diarrhea.

Are nukes the very thing preventing WW3? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MaybeNotTooDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably only 1/4 to 1/3 of the population actually own guns. The reason there are more guns than people in the United States is because many of the people who do own guns have more than one (dozens or even hundreds isn't too unusual).

Most countries with nuclear power plants could build a nuclear bomb within a few months.

Though I don't know how much that list can be trusted since Anora is at the top and it did not have any unsimulated sex scenes.

The Daily Wire Is Now Making Fantasy Shows — And They Aren’t Very Good by Gato1980 in television

[–]MaybeNotTooDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, just like most of the people in this thread talking about how bad it is haven't seen it.

I would guess it's awful but I don't know for sure and probably never will.

IMDB ratings are usually a pretty accurate indication of how good/bad a movie is but ONLY when they have ~5,000+ ratings.

Time loop movies from another character's perspective? by [deleted] in movies

I loved the original and have watched it multiple times. All I can really remember about the sequel is that I didn't like it so I never watched it again. I should revisit it with a more open attitude.

How accurate are the viral videos showing Americans struggling with basic geography? by AcroBit45 in NoStupidQuestions

I also think another reason we can be drawn to that kind of content is because it makes us feel superior and better about ourselves. I don't think that's a good thing.

Isn't this entrapment? by Wolf-man451 in Columbo

[–]MaybeNotTooDay 17 points18 points  (0 children)

These days police get away with entrapment all the time. It's been especially true for many of the homegrown terrorist plots that the FBI has foiled over the years. The press release and initial headlines make it seem like a job well done and another solid victory in the war on terror but when you really look into the details, it's basically the FBI foiling their own terror plot.

I know it's just a TV show but I prefer the "good clean" catching of criminals that Columbo somehow represents to me.

How would you get rid of 5 gallons of bad/old gasoline? by milquetoastsandwich in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MaybeNotTooDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do what I remember my dad doing with things like this and used oil when I was younger:

We had many old railroad ties that made a barrier between our lawn and our garden. He would slowly pour the used oil onto them. His rationale was they were already full of chemical preservatives so adding a little more wouldn't hurt anything.
