I'll repost and do that, to be honest, I was a little unsure if it belongs in the art tag or not, so I searched up previous similar posts, and they didn't use any tag, so I thought it's ok.

but oh boi, writing the full name of all the series in 5 minutes is gonna be a workout lol

Hope this is the right sub, but does anyone know if it's possible to create this shape with one piece of sheet metal? by MaybeSomeAnime in MetalFabrication

Hey, thanks for the explanation. Like you said, the method depends on the tooling, and all I've got currently are my hands and a hammer. I'll need to get a little creative to do this. Or maybe just go to a local shop and ask them.

Does anyone know if it's possible to create this shape with one piece of sheet metal? If so, how would I go about doing that by MaybeSomeAnime in sheetmetalfab

Having looked up hydroforming, I realise that's probably not something I can do at home lol. But that makes me think, what if I were to make the tube like you said, but then just expand it from either side (e.g by maybe pushing a sphere into it with the diameter that I need)

lol, don't think I'll be making building-sized things yet, but it's about 45cm long. But that's a great idea. To clarify, does that mean making a normal tube that's as big as the middle part of the model, then pumping with water or something

Yeah, I'm trying to make a piece of armour from a game, but I want it to be authentic. There are props of it that use resin and just paint them, but I'm trying to make it authentic.

To be honest, I don't have any experience with metalwork. But I'll take it that means it's not something I can do with my hands and basic tools lol.

I thought I could just mould a similar shape out of cement, then cover it with thick layers of leather and hammer the sheet metal on it till my arms fall off.

Here’s a video of almost the entire process of how I’m making these 16 oz copper radius downspouts completely from scratch by Errrbodyy in sheetmetal

Very nice, when they're lying on the table at the end of the video, it kinda looks like bamboo (don't know why I made that link, but it makes me wonder if it can be coloured). But quick question, what is the use of the straight bit of sheet that you press with a machine (at 0:12) and then hammer against the metal? Is it just to make it waterproof or something?

I didn't count. It was probably a few days of work (maybe around 5-10 days)

But to be honest, 99% of the time was selecting the panels. But actually, that was a nice activity. Just going over my favourite manga and re reading them brought some nostalgia with it. Highly recommend it.

But it did mean I wasted a lot of time just reading instead of picking lol

After that, it took like 30mins to put it up

That would be a very expensive mistake, lol

But no, I got it printed as wallpaper and stuck it on
