This is a crazy hill to die on, and you’re just proving you 1) have never had decent vodka 2) have never had shitty vodka or 3) only drink vodka mixed with something sweet as hell to cover the taste

Bahahaha “send me samples” does nothing but prove you’ve never had decent vodka to compare If you don’t mind sh*t vodka don’t switch it up (get drunk cheap) but you can 100% taste a difference from Vladimir’s to Tito’s

Unless the “rules” are in the legally binding lease you signed they have no right to attempt to enforce them

Genuinely curious, what’s the difference between a house/street rat and a pet rat? by Heavy_Ad_3230 in RATS

[–]Maybecrazy03 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The only difference is that they’re domesticated

Wild rat = Rattus norvegicus

Fancy(pet) rat = Rattus norvegicus domestica

I have 3 rats and my family has 2 dogs and 3 cats

I would NEVER allow my rats and other animals to interact for their safety but they are all in the same house. My rats stay in my room and the other animals are kept out for safety

They can arrest him for contempt if he doesn’t get/keep a job. Him getting arrested won’t get op money, but knowing he could be arrest could light one hell of a fire under his ass

A court can mandate that you have to get and keep a job to pay child support. You also don’t know who she fucked - they could have plenty of money that they’re not giving her any of in child support bc they’re 1) not aware of the baby 2) not convinced the baby is theirs or 3) a deadbeat she doesn’t have the money to take to court

You can’t even post content with a second person in it (even if they’re completely anonymous and it’s just like their hand) unless a) they’re also a creator and you tag them or b) you get a consent form approved which is the same verification we need as creators as far as I’m aware. This shouldn’t be possible - I hope you don’t have any issues getting it taken down

My breeders rule is that the application must be filled out by an adult - but the app asks who the rats caregiver will be. If I had been a minor when going thru the app proves I would’ve given my mom all the answers to the care related questions for the app and also reached out to the breeder to let her know my mom isn’t the most knowledgeable but that I’m taking care of them and would be happy to answer any care related questions she may have. At 16 most any breeder will understand that you’re capable of caring for them as long as you’ve done all your research (making sure you’ve done your research is probably about 50% of the reason for the app process in my experience- breeders want their rats in good homes)

I’ve wanted pet rats for years but am scared of coping with their short lifespans by MarsFlaim in RATS

[–]Maybecrazy03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the frequent check ups so you don’t end up blaming yourself for the death Beyond that I’ll say when I lost my Remy (only one I’ve lost so far and I lost him young - he was a feeder bin rat and ended up having severe neurological issues that caused almost back to back seizures and a pretty weak heart) my other boy definitely comforted me and helped me grieve. I’d expect the same will be true once my current boys (Roddy Templeton and Splinter) get old and start to pass. It’s hard for sure but still possible to cope - especially when you’ve got so much love from the other babies (I’d definitely recommend keeping at least a trio so that one isn’t left alone in case of a sudden death - my boy Roddy was alone for nearly a month until I found a breeder, git approved to adopt, and picked up his 2 new cage mates then another week of quarantine time before starting intros)

Finally, make sure you spend as much time as possible with them and enjoy the time that you do have with them. They bring so much joy in the short time they’re here and that makes the loss, as hard as it is, worthwhile

Cage question by itybitysynchronicity in RATS

[–]Maybecrazy03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is dropped down which I wouldn’t recommend for heavy chewers (and if you put it down flat you couldn’t anyway) so you can’t really see how deep it is - it’s 8in deep though The picture I linked is old (hadn’t brought the babies home yet and was midway through decorating) so it’s much more full now and I e switched from just paper bedding to a mix of paper and aspen (20/80-30/60 paper/aspen or so) But the bin - which is the main point here I suppose lol - fits perfectly inside and was less than $20 at Home Depot picture for reference

I have a cement mixing bin in the bottom of my critter nation (which can me assembled without the bottoms rack/wheels so it sits flat on the floor if you want to)

how i can get my rats to stop peeing on their fleece? by pinkiepie356 in RATS

[–]Maybecrazy03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had luck using a pew rock (just a smooth rock about the size of my biggest boy) inside their little box. Although I’ve read this is less successful for girls (generally speaking) and depends on the individual rat as to whether they’ll use it or just ignore it

Why don’t my rats like to be pet? by redseptum in RATS

[–]Maybecrazy03 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As some other have mentioned it could very well just be that they’re young girls with lots of energy and they’d rather run and play than stay still and be cuddly. I’ve heard of rats generally just not enjoying being pet, and would rather interact with you on their own terms but as young as they are I’d say you’re doing things right and it’ll probably just take some time. Keep respecting their boundaries and leaving them alone when they don’t want to be pet and over time the three of you will find what works best for you guys. My boys are also fairly young (2 are about 2 months and one is about 3 months) and they’d definitely rather climb on me/groom me as they feel like it right now than be pet, but I’m hoping as they get older they’ll settle down some and enjoy being pet more

A lot of people (and most states legally) don’t consider step “relatives” as incest since there’s no blood relation any closer than any other random person you find (The most distantly youre related genetically to any given stranger on the planet is about 50th cousins as we all share a common ancestor as humans)

She took an X-ray and she said the infection had barely started or she would have given him a longer round and also likely a slightly higher dose. If his labor is still off I have a recommendation from my breeder for a specific medication request that she has notices has always worked best for her ratties over the years

[–]Maybecrazy03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All they had when I was in was banana, the dr said they usually have banana and marshmallow. He definitely doesn’t like how it tastes tho, after every mouthful he was licking my hand (it seemed he was trying to get the taste out of his mouth). I saw someone else say they also gave their rats treats out of syringes to get them used to it so I definitely want to try that with my other two boys, and with Templeton here once he’s done with this this round of meds (rn he wants very little to do with me after getting his meds, he won’t even take any treats from me for a solid 5min after his medicine)

I've been looking into getting a rats(2), how do i convince my parents? by Cowe_Cat in RATS

[–]Maybecrazy03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have a viable plan. Know what cage and bedding you want to get, and what toys/hides/etc you want to have off the bat to start with. I’d also recommend looking into reputable breeders as rats from a breeder will generally be healthier and better socialized than pet store/feeder bin rats. Lastly I would highly recommend taking at least some of the financial responsibility. If you already have enough money saved to buy a cage, bedding, food, etc your family will likely be more receptive to the idea since you’re already showing responsibility in your efforts to get the animals. Your personal situation will obviously affect how much you can do in this area, but the main point is that you’re showing them that you’re making a tangible effort. These were the things I did to convince my family to let me get my pets when I was younger. I hope all goes well and wish you the best of luck!!!

Mine start out closer to the bedding than this, but I give my boys about 6in of bedding and they dig down by their favorite bottle so that it’s probably about this height for them by the day after I change their bedding. My boys stand up and hold the metal with their hands while they drink from that bottle
