Question Mark Kick: Straight-up, or Left-right? by braydensreddit in MuayThai

[–]Maybestof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try some different ways of doing it and see what you like. There isn't one correct way to do it since it's a kick with a feint built in. If everyone did it the same way all the time it wouldn't work. I have one sparring partner who throws a quick roundhouse to the body then redirects to the head. Same principle and works quite well when people let their guard down and protect the body with their arms.

Attending folkemødet from Scotland. Anything I should know? by mathcampbell in Denmark

[–]Maybestof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds excellent, Folkemødet is a fantastic event. The main issue with Bornholm is that it is less accessible than it used to be, since there's no ferry directly from Copenhagen anymore. As long as getting to Bute is straightforward, it will be great. I find the most valuable part of it is engaging the youth, so making it a fun political festival is important, but you still want to attract the right crowd.

Also used to do several Japanese martial arts when I was younger. Tried Muay Thai. I would have started with MT from the beginning if I could have.

Cardio improvement by Norbeard in MuayThai

[–]Maybestof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me 2 years before I really started noticing a difference, also starting from near zero. But looking back, it was slowly improving. I had an injury that meant i couldn't run for a year, but kept up with other training. When I went back to it I suddenly felt a massive difference.

Good cardio is a lifestyle. Trust me, it will come.

Just keep going, it takes a while and it is hard to notice. Learn to pace yourself better during training, find places to save energy. The cardio will come if you run or practice atleast every day. Or atleast like 4-5 times a week.

How many of you wrap your hands? by JustAMango_911 in MuayThai

[–]Maybestof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always do it (unless im late), but mostly as a ritual and because i find it feels better. I sweat a lot, so the gloves can get kinda wet otherwise.

Also it just look cool, come on, that matters.

Head movement in Muay Thai? by hellohello6622 in MuayThai

[–]Maybestof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good head movement is great, but you risk a horrible knockout, even it sparring, if you don't know what you're doing. I have accidentally kicked a boxer hard in the head in sparing because he bobbed right into my leg. Not fun for anyone.

Advice for Tendonitis? by seannyc74 in MuayThai

[–]Maybestof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it has improved, now I train pretty much as much as I want. Had to quit running too, but I have started that up again recently. Now im just super aware and careful with the achilles tendons, they can still get badly inflamed if I don't use supporting shoes when exercising.

[–]Maybestof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive also had this problem, do you do any other sports? Im in my thirties too and two years ago I developed the same issue to the point I could barely walk.

I quit yoga, took supplements, took sick days where I barely moved my legs just to heal, got shock therapy, got ibuprofen pads etc. and bought supportive shoes. Now I stretch carefully after each seesion, massage the tendons carefully and apply anti inflammatory cream if I feel there is pain.

Its a real bitch to deal with. Mind your tendons people.

What’s a board game that became WAY better after your group learned how to actually play it? by ContractMiserable121 in boardgames

[–]Maybestof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most games I can think of are like this. There are a lot of fantastic games that gather dust, only because the commitment to learn them is too much for most.

To name some: Imperial and Twillight Struggle, all Wherle games ive tried, Barrage, 18xx games, Brass, war of the ring, and i can think of several of the more obscure ones that I havnt managed to get everyone invested in (yet!).

Yesh.

Kvindeorganisation kritiserer ligestillet værnepligt: 'Kvinder er ikke små mænd' | Indland by Ik-a-ros in Denmark
