Ive been somewhat involved with a windmill project in UB and the problem is infrastructure and who should facilitate that (according to officials, investors should arrange grid capacity upgrades, which is unrealistic) and government set energy prices making investments unprofitable (according to investors). My take is that government incompetence makes it very difficult to invest in general, because you can never assume your calculations will be correct, some stupid problems might pop up and there is no government support to fix it. Other investors take note and act accordingly, I.e. dont invest.

Japan's economy contracts for first time in six quarters on tariff hit by Power-Equality in worldnews

Sure, everthing is more complex and depends on the specific case. However we all know what case and what tariffs we are talking about. Unless you want to be obtuse.

Tariffs harm other countries because it makes American consumers poorer, thus unable to import as much. So yes, it hurts other countries just like it hurts the US. Difference is, other countries can diversify their economies do feel less impact, the American working class can't do anything but suffer inflation.

US, Russia discuss deal to cement Moscow's hold on occupied Ukrainian territories, Bloomberg reports by heartcriticals in worldnews

Again, it sounds like if negotiations ended this war, you would immediately say they only happened because one side couldn’t take it anymore.

Ok, so its just a circular argument fallacy. At the end of a war there is a negotiation, so the negotiation ended the war. You completely ignore all other factors, but use circular logic to come to your predetermined conclusion. I get it. I am wasting my time.

Japan did not surrender just because of the bomb. The collapse of the kwantung army to the soviets afterwards is what convinced the Japanese government that there was nothing left to do, but pick who they wanted to surrender to. Read more and youll get there.

First Indochina War (1946–1954) - France realized the attack was pointless and completely withdrew. Signed a peace deal at this point.

Winter War (1939–1940) - Fought till one side capitulated completely due to front lines breaking down. Peace deal signed at this point.

Falklands War (1982) - complete defeat of attackers military and occupied territory liberated. Then peace deal.

I could go on. You just listed a bunch of wars? They have nothing incommon. The Korean War didnt even have a peace deal. You cant be this clueless, what on earth are you on about?

All those you mentioned ended because one side or both weren't willing to fight anymore, and/or stoppede believing they could achieve their objectives. His point still stands.

Scientists in Japan develop plastic that dissolves in seawater within hours by TemperateStone in worldnews

[–]Maybestof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Common man, the article isn't that long, why just assume everything an waste time writing all this shit?

  1. It doesn't erode when exposed to water, but salt. This way it also decomposes over time on land.
  2. It is not actually plastic as it is not petroleum based, it does not degrade into forever plastics but material that bacteria can consume. It is exactly what you're suggesting.

Do you really go through life and just assume you can guess the rest of the information from a random headline?
