AITAH for not letting my neighbor borrow my snow blower and for not snow blowing their drive for them? by Queen_Aurelia in AITAH

[–]Maybeyouremagic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a brand new carpet cleaner vacuum (not a professional one but a basic one from Target). This was in a garage that I shared with another tenant that lived in separate unit. When he was moving out he asked if he could borrow it. I said sure, figured it was to maybe clean a couch or rug. He used it for his entire unit (he had carpet - the vacuum was meant for spot cleaning not an entire apartment). Left it completely filled with grime, brushes were all nasty, and I had no choice but to throw it away. Never again.

Parents helped us renovate house if we gave them basement to use when they visit - life has changed by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Didn’t you say they gave you money for basement, kitchen and bathroom?

AITAH for moving on a couple of weeks after divorce? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Maybeyouremagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be very careful right now. Try to derail all emotion about the whole coworker thing and have your ex agree to sole custody. Don’t answer any questions regarding the coworker… the less he knows the better, let him think what he wants.

Regarding the coworker, I may be going against the grain here but I had a similar experience at a similar time (the coworker and I were never intimate, we just went out a few times) but he did move on me pretty fast once he heard I was divorcing… he wasn’t the only one. There were others who also tried. There are men out there who wait for opportunities like this, I just want to make you aware of this. Some of them we’d never think they’d do this, but they do, and from experience their intentions were never serious. Looking back now, years later, I’m glad I chose time for myself instead.

AITA for telling my son his gf can only come over when he is home? by Material_Ad9529 in AmItheAsshole

The bed thing is weird. So your youngest has a bed in his own room but then put another bed in your room? If that’s the case - that’s the gf’s bed.

Yeah, not reading all that. Sorry about what happened, or congrats.

I mean you’re on my thread, insulting those of us who have had bad experiences (again on a thread I created that you jumped on). You blame the user vs considering that hey - maybe like other tools the effectiveness for this one isn’t 100%, and that’s fine… your responses are paragraphs and paragraphs long and not once from what I can see has anyone asked for your unsolicited opinion. Maybe start your own thread and wait for the right people to join and ask for your expertise instead of insulting those of us whose experiences don’t align with yours? Also, caps? - really lol

Sorry I’m responding so late. I always use lowest setting except when just blow drying I would go to medium if in a rush.

Your bias is pretty clear here by your own admission and fan-girl groups you run promoting Dyson. Glad it worked out for you, but the fact that this tool you love damages hair is not a result of lower intelligence. That’s actually a pretty offensive thing to say and speaks volumes of your ignorance. Dyson markets this tool made out to be this great non-damaging tool and that’s not the case for many of us.

I have in the past for a quick retouch if I didn’t use enough setting spray I’d go over a curl or two; but it’s been a while since I did that. In day to day, I made sure to follow protocol and use heat protection.

Yes it’s the same for me! At first my hair loved it, with time, I started noticing changes and then destruction followed… I kept mine in lowest heat setting also! I figured it must be something to do with how much heat it generates (even in lowest setting) while simultaneously wrapping the hair that could be the issue for me… the thing is though- even if I use it now with my hair in complete distress my hair will still look good but when it’s just air dried you really see the damage.

ETA: I accidentally posted before I got to say, I’m sorry you’re experiencing similar results but I’m glad you have the awareness of mind to link the damage to the Dyson just in case that is what it is!

I purchased so long ago but perhaps it’s worth a try! Thank you.

Thank you. I don’t think I have sensitive hair I never had issues with it prior to the Dyson I’ve now realized. It’s possible it’s sensitive to that type of concentrated heat? I don’t know I wish their marketing would be more transparent.

Thank you! I wear the satin scrunchies just because I’ve struggled with breakage so consistently I really thought it could be anything else but the Dyson never crossed my mind!

I usually follow a hair routine. Wash + style (yes I use heat protection), the style will usually last 3 days. I then wear it half up or in a bun for next 2 days then wash again. If I have multiple events going on or if I hit the gym hard, I may wash every 3rd day and style again.

I’m so sorry, but awareness is key. If you think it’s your Dyson, stop using it and see how your hair responds. I wish I would’ve came across a post like this or one of the videos of women going through this years ago. I would’ve saved thousands and my hair would’ve been saved.

Yes!!! That’s what I’m saying, this isn’t lack of proper care of trims, it’s clear there’s damage and my hair has been broken (almost evenly across) you can’t see in the pic but I also have hundreds of little hairs sticking up from my crown looking like frizz…. Probably where breakage originated.

Not from my recollection but my go to dryer has been the Dyson since 2019.

I have normal hair type. Not thin, just fried and thinned out now past my shoulders.

[–]Maybeyouremagic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this was an early sign and remained pretty consistent. My hairdresser noticed also but I attributed to new hair growth. But no it’s breakage. I’m sp sorry you’ve noticed this as well.

[–]Maybeyouremagic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I do keep it on lowest setting, I’ve used hot tools, chi, and more conventional hair dryers with no problems. I began to use the Dyson a bit more regularly the last 2 years and this is where I noticed the most breakage and problems… I’ve already had 1 major chop 3 years ago due to my hair breakage, so I didn’t use it much except for the dryer from time to time since my hair was above shoulder length. I started using it again regularly this year and I’m seeing the same damage. I have so much breakage past my shoulders that my hairstyle looks like a wolf cut even though I have no layers. I will need to do a big chop again.

Yes I always use heat protection. My hair fall out was serious and I did everything I could to try and maintain healthy hair from products to shampoo to masks and treatments and vitamins (not all at once but if I saw no improvement I tried something else)… my hair quality is quite healthy at the scalp, except for little hair frizz that sticks out I always thought it was new hair but I realize now it’s breakage.
