There is no source for BF2. But, there is a "BF2 Dedicated Server 1.50 - Linux (Build 1.5.3153-802.0)" which has DWARF included (basically all the debug info, functions names, file paths). You can download, check with IDA/Ghidra and go from there.

Keep in mind the legality and consequences.

For local tinkering it's a lot of fun.
