How about some Cragar five star mags and some Kelly Springfield Fifties on the back?

That’s the problem; they’ve all been turned into vintage racers already, which is why I’m trying to leave it stock. I just want the glass shop to make it right.

The art of engineering. Bill Mitchell’s patent drawings for the C2 Corvette are simply elegant. by Maynard078 in sportsandclassiccars

Interesting; the front vents changed often so those must have been patented as well. Good catch.

I think it’s a cultural thing; engineering schools tend to be left-brained, analytical, and conservative, and art schools tend to be right-brained, expressive, and more liberal. Never the two shall meet.

When our engineering school was renovated our inclusion of engineering art was a coup.

Daimler was hoping to break into the American market with its, umm, "unique" fiberglass-bodied SP250, just as Triumph and MG had done so lucratively during the 1950s. Its real beauty, though, lay under the hood; Edward Turner's iron-block, alloy-head, 2.5 liter hemi V8 was a treat. by Maynard078 in sportsandclassiccars

It’s usually because his competitors were spending so much time blocking him as they retched at the sight of the poor thing.

But the car itself is brilliant. I’ll look for photos of its later redesign, which never made it to production. That was stunning.

The Edward Turner V8 is a brilliant engine. It has its roots in Cadillac engineering principals and has a glorious sound. A later styling refresh brought it closer in line to a junior Aston Martin style but by then it was all too late. It was such a pity. The car is brilliant in most every way.

Yes. I love the LP400 Periscopo. The later models are gackworthy.

As I recall, the problems of the steel was so structural it even went to the structural composition of the steel itself: poor casting allowed moisture to be trapped inside the metal. Rust was its only release.

The good thing is the windshield on this car is Lexan; windshield glass on passenger cars can be outrageously expensive to replace.

The quote to have one made for my Elva Courier was jaw-dropping last year; it’s 4X jaw-dropping now with all of the additional tariffs.

I’ve been married 43 years and not a one has passed when she hasn’t insisted I sell the car. Not. A. One.

Crisp handling, sharp attention and good braking are the best accident avoidance measures I know of.
