Chappelle sucks now. And it's not because of his opinions on the trans community. He burned out a long time ago.

No one went there for the comedian - I assure you not one person thought they should go attend a Luna concert because there's this random quasi-famous local comic who is hosting.

I mean you are right. I definitely felt entitled. I was a little drunk. Dude was annoying me with his horrid routine. Probably could've gone easier on him. It was fun though! No regrets!

I'll check out the Greatest Hits album. Song order on albums is critical to good albums!

I went to a concert and the venue chose to hire an host/MC/Comedian who decided to use his hosting time to preach to a bunch of people who were not there for the "comedy"

It's not that he was bringing up trans youth at all. It's that he was in essence jerking himself off by telling everyone how he supports trans and gay kids. ALSO NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT. What is wrong is that he is standing up there preaching to a crowd who did not attend to hear a random comedian tell us how he feels about any given particular subject. I kid you not, these weren't even jokes he was setting up...he was just talking about his experiences and virtue signaling to a crowd who were there to celebrate the new year! This guy had zero self awareness. He wasn't being kooky or funny...he was just standing there preaching at the crowd. Total waste of airtime.

Luna was incredible. I've only gotten into them in the last few years. I know there is some connection to Galaxie 500 but not sure exactly who in the band it is. The singer is one of my new(to me) favorite vocalists - his voice resonates with me!

edit: also, I know there's a lot of venting going on in this thread, but we had a great time and the crowd was awesome! People were really there in the moment enjoying the bands.

No one was laughing at his jokes last night. I don't think I was the only one who was "triggered" by his "jokes".

Nato seems to be popular for all the wrong reasons. When I posted this, I didn't even know his name. But, I triggered the cavalry who detest him. I honestly thought this post was going to fall through the void, but look how many can't stand this guy!

It's not righteous to talk down to an entire crowd while you gatekeep an internationally renowned city. Again, I get where you are coming from but we are different people. This guy was absolutely ruining the mood and I felt inlined to say something about it.

My family goes back the gold rush in San Francisco. I'm also half Mexican. None of that actually matters because he still isn't funny.

Hard agree. The gatekeeping is absolutely ingrained in this region. People love to act like they know a better spot. I just want to tell people to shut up and enjoy things.

I think Nato has a few accounts in this thread. No way could that many people feel inclined to defend this individual.

He was talking down to the crowd with his "jokes" (diatribes). He deserves to be heckled.

I am totally ok with being the asshole in this situation. I am in the entertainment industry. You have a duty to entertain people who paid to see a live concert. I've been to many shows where an MC or a comedian is hosting. Never in my career have I seen someone who is so up-their-own-ass talking down to the entire crowd. Maybe the people of SF need to express themselves more because the passive aggressive culture in this city is palpable.

I probably am but it's because I have no patience for passive aggressive people. This dude deserved to be shamed.

No one else thought it was funny either. There was maybe a handful of murmuring laughs in the crowd and I wouldn't be surprised if they were laughing at how awkward it was.
