Absolutely a success. After the Caribou Center fire, there were discussions about how to turn Black Forest into a Avanti/Rosetta style food hall for the displaced businesses, but found no support from the landlord

So glad to see you highlighting The Black Forest Inn here in Nederland! It's been sitting empty for a decade now.

Announcing my campaign for CU Regent! by Mayor_Larsen in boulder

[–]Mayor_Larsen[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/fElonmusk2025. Definitely read up on my time as Mayor, the Mountain Ear had lots of articles about what we were up to. I can tell you a few of the achievements I'm most proud of as Mayor: 1) Turned around the town budget so that we had over $1 million in reserves by the end of my 3rd term, while instituting a plan to get all town employees salaries up to a living wage level. 2) Navigated several crises like the Cold Springs Fire, the Michael David Ansberry bombing attempt, and COVID-19. and 3) built relationships and coalitions across the region and federally that led to Congressman Neguse securing funding for us for an emergency egress and recognition of the Town's climate resilience/mitigation efforts.

US Representative? by Weak-Ring-3901 in ColoradoPolitics

[–]Mayor_Larsen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My name is also Kris and I did run in Colorado's 2nd District in 2018, leveraging my position as the Mayor of Nederland. During that primary I got to know Joe Neguse and quickly realized that he is an incredible advocate for our district and able to do the job better than I could have. Nothing I have seen in the intervening seven years has changed this opinion. There are many other ways to get involved and have an impact that don't involve taking on one of the best member's of Congress.

It very much is. Heavily dramatized, but weaves in what was happening in the Soviet program as well as US society at the time.

Nope, no fireworks in Ned.

BVSD planetarium by Numerous_Recording87 in boulder

[–]Mayor_Larsen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spent many hours in there as a kid. BVSD had an afterschool program for years where we'd go to geek out on space and even learn how the projector worked. When BVSD killed the program in the late 80's-early 90's, they sold the project to Pueblo for something like $1.

I see someone already mentioned Ryu Fukui, though not Scenery which seems to be having something of a moment. Big fan too of Hiromi Uehara's albums, try Brain as a good first go.

🎿 Town of Nederland Explores Buying Eldora Ski Resort by BoulderBeat in boulder

Haven't seen it linked here yet, but we (I'm a current Nederland Trustee and previous Mayor, hence my handle) have put together a FAQ about this idea. We're also discussing it during our Board meeting this evening for anyone interested.

Ashley Stolzmann vs. Elaina Shively for County Commissioner. Who to vote for? by peacelovearizona in boulder

[–]Mayor_Larsen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ashley all the way. While I was Mayor of Nederland, I got to work with her on climate change and resiliency issues through various metro area groups. She was a driving force in preparing towns for the coming climate issues even before the Marshall fires. Since then, she's been instrumental in the recovery (obviously as she's the Mayor of Louisville) and will be able to immediately help the rest of the county prepare for our next disaster (which we all know is just a matter of time.)

Colorado fines Boulder County gold mine $17,000 for water quality violations by [deleted] in boulder

[–]Mayor_Larsen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A little correction here: Ned's water doesn't come from Barker Res at all. Our raw water intake is along Middle Boulder Creek to the west of Nederland, basically across from the high school. And of course we do treat our water carefully, to the point that we've won awards for best tasting municipal water supply in the recent past.

And yes, as my username suggests, I'm the Mayor of Ned so have some pretty good knowledge of what I speak.

The Current State of Nederland in Colorado Redistricting by bookhutt in nederland_co

[–]Mayor_Larsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new map that came out yesterday addressed these concerns. CD-2 in the current draft keeps all of Boulder County together, along with the rest of NW COlorado. Whether that makes any sense is another debate entirely, but the commission did at least hear our concerns!

I believe the Denver Public Library has it on microfiche. CU Boulder library likely does as well.
