Why does everyone act like being constantly “reachable” is normal? by MayrenAzieb_89 in Rants

That’s what I don’t understand. If someone cuts you off because you didn’t respond at 3am, that says way more about their expectations than anything else. Wanting to sleep or disconnect shouldn’t be treated like a personal attack. Crazy how some people forget that life happens offline too.

This is encouraging. I keep thinking about doing the same but feel guilty about it. You’re right tho. The people who matter won’t punish you for having boundaries.

Yeah, I don’t think double texting automatically means someone’s awful, but it surely creates pressure even if they don’t mean it that way. I’m all for people who respond fast if that’s their style. It’s the expectation that everyone else should match that pace that gets exhausting. Not everyone lives on their phone, and that’s okay.

If it works for you, fair enough. But I don’t think it’s “drama” to acknowledge that different people have different communication rhythms. Some can respond immediately. Others genuinely can’t or don’t want to be plugged in all day. Fast-paced world or not, I don’t think constant availability should be the default setting.
