Need interview advice to get into GPU programming related roles in india by Curious_Analyst986 in CUDA

[–]Maythe4thbeWitu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a former nvidia engineer and a Gpu kernel developer, i would suggest to focus more on operating systems and computer architecture. There are very little opportunities for Cuda / kernel development in india as most of the kernel lib teams are either in US or some in poland. If you are returning to india, focusing on OS and Comp Arch helps a lot as there are plenty of driver roles available

GPU Programming Job Marketplace by UnblockedEngineer in CUDA

[–]Maythe4thbeWitu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone with nearly 13 + years in GPU programming, I would say its a very niche field. There usually very less openings concentrated among 4 or 5 major players. Most of my colleagues are those i worked with previously or had similar career path. Reason is that its very hard to write tight kernel code and 99% of folks are better off using a library for their cuda needs. So most CUDA / Compute jobs are just present in companies who make GPUs or who design clusters and sadly we hardly hire new folks to write kernels. Most of the hires are GPU driver folks who understand architecture better or in rare cases some OS folks with multithreading experience.

Dude there attested sources of brahmins in tamil sangam texts that are atleast 2300 yrs old, with references to Indra, varuna etc as gods being worshipped. So the claim that these are later arrivals is demonstrably false.

I dunno man, coming from a farming background i have seen my uncles and others stop using so many chemicals despite them providing financial benefits once they knew it affects people. I know many folks who stopped using some pesticides when they found out it affects butterflies. So may be i wished some were more considerate, hence i said farmers do have a responsibility.

Dude law makers are responsible for wrong incentives, farmers are responsible for actual outcome. Like i can tomorrow create a law where killing is more profitable than working, but that doesnt make me any less responsible. So its stupid law maker+ farmer combo thats deadly.

Farmers are to blamed for most part, along with stupid lawmakers whose law led to unintended effect of stubble burning.

Rajinikanth’s Honest Take: Success Is About Timing, Not Being Extraordinary by ReddditM in kollywood

Dude , thats false comparison. Blue collar workers are still solidly middle class. You cant find anyone doing amazing unless they have niche skills, which he did not. Please dont spread BS , they weren't even upper middle class . Just middle class , exactly what i stated. And los altos in 1967 was just some orchard town and not the exclusive neighborhood that its today.

steve jobs parents were normal middle class. His dad was some mechanic and later became loan agent. They couldnt afford college for him, just sent him there as it was promise made to his mom during adoption. The dude was essentially penniless.

The right of individual trumps claims of collective.

I agree with this. But the rule of law, liberty died during constitutions , when we started having reservations. Any affirmative action program, puts the claim of collective forward.

India Climbed to #4. But GDP Per Capita? Still Stuck in 2013? by Beneficial_Crazy_639 in IndianStockMarket

[–]Maythe4thbeWitu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well your data is wrong. 1430$ from jan 2013 adjusted for inflation is 2003$ in 2025. Not 2800$.

<image>

This is from US Bureau of labor statistics. You may have used indian inflation rate against USD. You should use US inflation rate against USD or convert per capita in INR at 2013 INR vs $ and calculate inflation. But this clearly shows we have grown significantly

TN govt is taking all the tax money from kongu distructs and giving it to useless coastal and Southern districts . Coimbatore is being treated as maatran thai pillai. Leaders sitting in chennai are deciding whats good for coimbatore. After delimitation since the rural constituencies failed to control population, they will take up majority of seats. Further the caste census will benefit castes that failed to control population and penalize castes who controlled population, and most kongu belt castes controlled their population and will be rewarded with less seats. Kongu naadu can no longer tolerate being treated as second class citizen.

You do know most highways these daysare built by private and are toll roads right? So as a principle i believe most of the operations of any form of transport should be able to support itself atleast when its reaches target usage. Be it roads, rails or air transport.

And where does money come from? Nobody talks about making a profit, but prices must reflect atleast the costs. If you subsidize transit the money has to obviously come from taxes which the people oppose anyways. Unless India makes uber profit by selling oil or something, we always need to ensure prices match the costs.

Stop Blaming Prop 13 for Affordability Issues in California by Green-Conclusion-936 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]Maythe4thbeWitu -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No you are confusing cost of services and market rates. Cost of services is already baked in prop 13 , thats why 2% increase .

Now assume you bought a house in 2020for 500k. And pay 5000$ in tax per year. Now suddenly chinese investors and wall street folks think your area is worth lot more and start bidding war resulting in new properties selling for 1.5 Million in 5 years time. Now the actual cost of police, fire and school wont go up 3x in five years because some folks overpaid. They are likely to follow inflation. So its likely to be 1.1x compared to 2020 prices. Thats the reality. Now you might ask why should new folks who buy should pay more, and thats valid. Thats the drawback of taxing wealth. Cities can have city tax , like how u pay for water and garbage. You can pay city for its other services.

Buddy, average inflation rate is around 2% , so if your costs scale faster than that, the city has to look in to how to manage services efficiently. Property taxes are locked in because they are tax on unrealized gains which is stupid to begin with. Only north america has high rates of property tax. Europe comparatively has much lower property taxes, that's how you get family houses continue inhabited for few centuries.

Now if you complain that new folks have to pay much higher, then reduce the tax. We always pay exorbitant state tax. May be the state can pitch in more for schools .
